5 year old boy attacked by wild animal

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Please have reasonable fear
On average 14 people a year are killed by vending machines
2200 people end up in the emergency room with injuries sustained by a toothbrush.
2 people are killed by critters in the U.S.

Run for your lives its a vending machine that sells toothbrushes!

Matt I totally agree with you we are more likley to be injured with in 5 miles of our homes than in the wilderness. In my neighborhood your more likley to be attacke by a large dog than by a bear in the wilderness. But I still have to be prepared if something attacks me in either place.

Yesterday in Newton County Missouri a woman was chased into her home by a black panther. When she called the police they thought she was kidding. When they got to her house the cat was trying to get into her son's bedroom window. The police had to shoot the panther. Only then did they find out it had been de-clawed, obviously someones pet that had escaped. It still hat it's teeth though! Getting attacked by a wild animal someone has tried to domesticate is crazy. Then to top it all off they don't insure it can't escape.

Ma3tt,
I can agree with you. The odds are slim that a critter is going to eat my kid's head. However I do camp with a lot of different critters (heck we had a moose walk through camp when he was 10 weeks) and will play it on the cautious side. Besides I know that your numbers are a little low as the most dangerous north american animal kills 146 people a year alone.
