These kids did good

If anyone out there has not heard a Boy Scout Camp in Iowa was hit by a tornado. In the aftermath many of the Boy Scouts took care of each other and did everything they were taught to do in an emergency situation. I believe that the Boy Scouts saved many lives yesterday because of their concern for their fellow man and their quick response.

For lack of better words I am proud of these Boy Scouts.

Heres the news story: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#25125961

I agree. I remember back when I was a Scout, the First Aid merit badge was usually one of the first merit badges a Scout went for. As the motto goes, "Be Prepared".

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

I saw that news report late last night and was brought to tears... so sad that two or three young men (about 14 yrs old) died in the disaster, but the boys /young men interviewed were very well spoken and obviously were part of a great scout group there.
They mentioned that just the day before they had been doing some first response / disaster type training.,..

God be with them.

I saw the news and prayed and cried for the boys that were lost. But I was also real proud of those boys and their scout training. My two oldest grandsons are scouts and are on the same training path as those boys in Iowa, they are a year and a half behind them and I know when they go camping, about once a month with their troop, they are always refreshed on their first aid and survival skills each outing. There are some great scouts out there and it's good to see some positive pr about how well prepared these kids are.

When I was a Boy Scout, they taught us basic first aid, but this was 40+ years ago and there was no CPR or triage, at least that we were taught.

Those young men were all heroes. It amazes me how much they are taught now days compared to what we were taught. They are definitely one of the best organizations for a young man to join.
