Frank Giotto, President of Fiber Instrument Sales Inc., demonstrated the Mini Motel, which includes an air mattress, pillow, bed sheet, alarm clock, reading light, toothbrush and toothpaste, ear plugs and eye shades.

Might make a nice "guest house" for my teardrop

Or it could be good for hiking. or just sleeping at the airport after your flight has been canelled.

Do we know how much it weighs?

I think it looks like it is more for privacy...than a tent. Doesn't look like it would hold up well in the rain and wind.
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

I wonder how airport security would take someone pitching one of those in the terminal?

In my backpacking days, I had a tent that weighed 4 pounds, 8 ounces. It held two people in a pinch, and one person very comfortably, and once kept me dry through a wicked Texas storm with wind and quarter-sized hail.

I still have my "big" tent, which weighs 7 pounds, 7 ounces -- and has 7X7 footprint. I wonder if they planned all those sevens.

According to the "uses" section on the website, it doesn't seem to be a real outdoorsy item.
I'm looking for something for a week long hike I'm planning for next summer.

Mine was a Kelty just like this, but different colors. I got it at REI.

REI stores carry different tents at different stores, depending on the climate in the region of each store. REI only carries Kelty's better tents.

Bass Pro Shops has an outdoor tent/cot that looks pretty good (I've seen it in person), but it's not cheap at $169, and they don't say what it weighs.

I guess you back into it. Makes me think of a crawdad. I guess you could waterproof it? In the terminal I bet you would have a problem with security since 9/11 or at least finding an out of the way place to pitch it. My luck, it would be in my checked bag when I needed it.
