what travel clubs do you belong to??

Postby Ron Dickey » Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:47 pm

I belong to Good Sam Club :)

and had wondered if anyone else had belonged to any other there other programs like medial emergancy, or discount programs like prefered campclub USA.

Do you belong to other travel groups like AAA and if so do you use AAA Plus or the new even more advanced one??

Cheveron offers the preimum card with discounts at motels for 1/2 price I was always tempted but at 21% intrest it always stopped me.

Any others that you belong to recomend as I begin to hit the road more coverage seems more real

I am a charter life member of the Good Sam Club. We have used the camping discount quite often while traveling. When we are taking off for parts unknown, I'll sign up for their Emergency Road Service, never needed it but good to have when away from home.

I used to belong to Good Sam but they have this odd attitude. If you show dogs they assume you are a business and will not cover you. I don't get the logic but they will deny coverage.
I have Coach Net and it is great. I have called them twice and they are very good. One time it was not my trailer but one I was hauling that got hung up on old not used railroad tracks. No problem. They said I had one two tow vehicled for an hour or one for two hours. It took 15 minutes.

For the women, I have heard many comments by those who used Coach Net. If they know a women is in a isolated area they will send help but also remain in phone contact until someone arrives.
I believe I pay about $140 for their top level coverage. My dogs love it.

I have AAA, I belive the Plus membership that includes 100 mile one way free towing 4x per year. I got it just days after having my car towed 13 miles homes and having to pay around $150. What a night that was! :? Haven't been on another blind date since that night.

haha... not kidding. ;)

I have a koa card. K says she is a 'mariott girl' and wants clean rest rooms.

I also have AAA plus which covers motorcycles and campers.

I have AAA Plus. When I was working 70 miles from home I actually used their 100 mile towing TWICE! First time was when my '95 Ranger conked out on me on the way to work. I bought that truck used and it was a lemon - I had about a page of little quirky things wrong with it.

The second time was when my brandy-new '04 Ranger was parked in an underground garage in DC. She was only a couple months old and everything electrical appeared to be working but she just wouldn't start. Anyway, I was still covered by Ford's new car coverage but the garage had a max height of 6' 4" and they didn't have anything that could get me out of there! So I called AAA and they sent one truck that pulled me out with the gizmo that goes under the wheels, and then a flatbed to get me to my home dealer for the repair. If Rosie (yes, my truck has a name) was going to be out of commission for a day or two I didn't want to have to go to a motel. Turns out a wire to the starter motor had worked loose, got against the manifold and burned, resulting in a short.

I am also a charter life member of Good Sam and a AAA member. I have been looking at KOA and TinCanTourists. The rider on my StateFarm insurance gives me a 250 miles for towing and includes my TD.

I had the AAA that covered the RV for a while. We needed it numerous times throughout one of our trips in Utah. Flat tires, extra fuel pump, blew some water lines (not covered). I had my kids for the summer and they complained most of the time. Our first night we camped out in the NAPA parking lot awaiting repairs. The mechanic called us the Griswalds and was kind enough to run an electrical line and water line to our RV for the night. I ended up walking up the road, got some steaks and rented some movies and made the best of it. I had a good time and secretly I'm sure the kids did too.

Oh, and I still have the regular AAA for autos. No complaints for AAA.
