Hurricane in Indiana?

Wow it sure is nice to have power and phones back after 5 days in the black!
The remnants of Ike and a cold front collided over our area here resulting in 5 hours of sustained category 1 winds. The result was a near complete blackout of the grid for the entire area not to mention wide spread damage to homes and businesses We were lucky here with no major damage to the house. There are about 20 trees down in the yard and truckloads of loose limbs to be cleaned up.
My heart goes out to all of the people who lost their homes or even worse in Galveston and other areas hit even harder.

Mark, glas to hear y'all are OK...we tend to forget that these storms don't stop their destruction at the3 coast but continue onwards!!!!!!!

Hey Mark,
Charles and I are glad no one was injured and no serious damage. Those storms can definately cause as much damage after they lose their name..
Now you will start stressing when hurricane season rolls around.

5 days of no electricity and firewood down the easy, though messy way. I feel for you! Take the clean up slow and easy. It won't run off ya know

Wow 5 days no power, We got super wind up here but only lost power for about 30 minutes. I feel for you glad you're all OK.
I did get to see a 55 gal drum trash can thrown in the air and flipped end over end. It was a little unnerving

Thanks for the well wishes.I just hope everyone affected by this storm can get back to normal as soon as possible! According to the local news there are still thousands of homes without power in the area A full week later! The maximum sustained winds of 81 mph were measured very near here. It amazes me to see what the wind did to some of the buildings around the neighborhood. In some cases a lot of the material is nowhere to be found! Large old barns completely gone! I feel very lucky. Pray for those who lost it all!
