Hey

My wife had been driving a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.0L I-6 and had been using regular gasoline without problems but when prices got high she switched to using an 89 octane gas but mixed with ethanol (I forget the percentage) but after about 4 months it started developing a knock, I recommended she go back to regular gasoline with ethanol and the knock deminished by about 2/3rds and had beeter power but it seems the damage was already done, we traded it into a Dodge dealer who thought a bearing was going out. Oil changes were still done every 3-4K during this time. I also drove a 99 Jeep Grand but I have a V8 and mine still runs great. I just don't think the engine was designed to run on the ethanol/gasoline mix versus regular gasoline. She admitted how much better it run on pure gasoline also. :lightbulb:

Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

Robert got an email from my brother's wife in Peachtree City, GA. Just SW of Atlanta. Naturally they have to drive around the south side of the city for work. They now are carpooling. It averages that every 7th gas station has a little gas.

My neice and nephew both live north, I think. Don't know what their experiences are. They are both award winning triathletes so they are probably riding bikes! What a pair. Rachel has white-blond hair and just about a full 5' tall. Erik is light brown hair and 6'4" +.

Guess when we go to LCG III we'll refill in Arkansas and shouldn't have any problem in Louisiana.

We have a minute-by-minute mpg graph in our car, so I can tell without a doubt that ethanol hurts the mileage. Around/about the 4mpg you're all talking about - but we start at 52mpg average, so we're only down to about 48 or so.

On the other hand, we have a friend with an ethanol-enabled car - one that is designed to use ethanol. He notices no mpg drop. So maybe the technology is coming? But it isn't really ready for mainstream cars now. Wish they'd stop pushing it as if it was.

What's up with the gas shortage in Atlanta. I still get the e-mails from the sports car club there. They cancelled their rally this month due to the shortages.
