Scott,
I can't even get on the internet when I'm at work.
Like today...
I'll be 120' up, on top of a sawdust silo, replacing its coned metal roof.
I don't care for the constant sliding of the feet and knees, but the view's nice.

My uncle to used to paint the tops of water towers, never even used a safety line. I don't think so.....
I don't have a problem with heights but I much prefer a flat surface when I'm up there!!
Try not to do too much slip slidin'!!!

Rich,
We are required to be tied off, but I dislike the yo-yo's we're using.
They're designed to let slack out for ease of travel... The slow sliding doesn't activate them.
It takes a sudden jerk to lock 'em down.

Now that can be a little un-nerving!! Nothing like sliding down and nothing stopping you. Sounds like you actually need to fall off the side for it to work!!

Tup... I didn't want to test it to see if it was working properly...
Next time I go up on something like that, I'm wearing tennis shoes, don't care what the company policy says about boots.

Dean,
Red Wing has a Boot with a soft Rubber/foam sole. Similar to the wolverine Durashock. Excepts its "grippyer" (how that for create a word). non conductive safety toe. Very comfortable and works well on concrete floors - no pain in feet, knees or back as well. They do not slide on tile or others smooth surface, so you get the "groan/squeak" thats the only downside, but my sneakers do the same groan/squeak at work.
I like anything that turns money into noise.

At least that Chimp knew when to bail out! :D
BTW - I too used to climb water towers to replace those red lights - My harness had a a safety spring and a tight tether - one to cushion the fall and snap - the other in case the srping failed. I was always kept busy ;)
