Intensive Garden Grow Box

Postby Dee Bee » Sat Oct 18, 2008 9:20 pm

I recently finished making a Grow Box. Cost less than $20. It is a self contained, self watering container garden.

It is more than dirt in a tub.

Check out the web article. If you camp at the same place all summer this might be a great way to have a salad garden next to your TD.

Comments welcome.

I have one EarthBox, and really like it. Your article prompted me to search for other similar plans of the grow box. If you don't have a huge yard to grow things, this is a great solution. Plus it really works. I will have to read the instructions a bit closer. The pictures, are a bit hard to follow due to the dark color contrast. Hopefully I can find other DIY plans for something like the EarthBox.

I have a couple earth boxes, also. Really like them. Will check out this system as well. Fill with water, leave for a week and they are in good shape when you return.

I've used this one for two years, works great. www.josho.com/gardening.htm You have to build a trellis or something tall if you grow tomatoes, the plant will keep growing up & up. Doug

I did some earth boxes a couple years ago. I didn't have the best of luck.

I put too many tomatoes in each box.

And I found that my tomatoes in the ground grew better and faster than the ones in the earth box.

However, an earthbox is great for getting an early start on the growing season.
