The system is still having a problem, I ended up buying a new software XP because there may have been a problem with the install, I installed the new software, and I am still unable to get to my website and many others, it acts as if I am not on line. I figured with a new install would correct many of the problem, but now I am unable to install window update I keep getting an error message 0x80072EDF I have already tried to perform all of the suggested corrections to no avail.
I guess it is back to the computer repair guy.

Do you have a computer that does work? Search the error code. I did a cursory search and it seems to relate to .net passport or Microsoft messenger.
Are you able to connect to the internet at all?
How did you install the xp software you purchased? Did you do a new install or repair?
