I seen some pics of a recumbent bicycle on the web & desided that I have all these old bikes from my kids growing up out behind the garage. I can do that! Got it made last fall & couldnt go more than 10ft. without falling. Figured out it was about 1/32 out of line. Cut it into & straightend it & it still throws me off. The last time it bucked me off & the handle bars came around & blooded my nose. Desided it was time for 3 wheels. Cut up the bike & built this trike.

Great job! I'm very interested in more info.My son wants one but they are to expensive.I told him that when I finish the trailer I would try to built him one.Please tell use more.Did you built it from plans?if so, were did you get the plans?Will you share the spec?Thanks for any info you are willing to share.

This was loosely built on some plans I found on the internet (& now cant find again) It is called the Thunderbolt by Rickey Horwitz. He has a website called www.hellbentcycles.com where he has plans for sale. The plans called for using aluminm but I used steel (exhaust pipe 1-1/2) Mine is probably too heavy, but am just going to ride it around the park & bike paths in Ks. (no hills) I spent less than $50.00 on it but already had a couple of ten-speeds & a BMX for parts. Plus a fully equipped shop. And then I am one of those guys that can look at a picture & then build it. I only have rear brakes & dont know if they will work real good. If I have to put front brakes on it that will add a couple hundred bucks to it. I have lots of pics of the building of it but they are 1600X1200 If someone is really interested they could PM me & I would e-mail them. Roger

Well, with the nice weather (almost 70) yesterday I took it out for a ride & desided this one is a keeper. My grandson rode it for about an hour today & said he would keep it at his house. If I did that I would never see it again.
