Henk,

Be glad you are not in the USA during these difficult times, as your countries unemployment benefits are much better than ours. I wish you well finding work you want to do.

:(

Henk,

That sucks man. Looking for work is always harder than working. Benn there a few times.

Sorry our greedy bankers and others have ruined it for so many people. I can only say I didn't vote for the thieves.

We're all going to get through this and come out the other side stronger and better for the experience.

Thank the good Lord Obama won, he'll do his best to get us all out of this. I just hope it works.

Losing your job is really bad, we tend to identify with our jobs. I lost mine last year 20 years behind a desk, I felt I was very good at my job, darn. Well what to do, I have to work. Now I am a janitor, I sweep floors and mt trash cans, Far beneath me, not really, I am on my feet now more than I ever was. I get to flirt with the girls and physically I am in the best shape I have been in in 30 years, the pay isn't as good but I will probably live 10 years longer than if I was still sitting at a desk and I always have my Teardrop if I need a place to live...Jim G 8)

Henk

Symapthies to you. I got my 3 month redudancy notice at the beginning of April, I've known it was coming for nearly a year as we have been having a department wide review but actually getting it in writing is a hell of a shock when you've got a mortgage to pay and a daughter at university. Fortunately I have been able to find another post in a different department but it's only a 2 year fixed contract which means if they don't make the post permanent by the end of the 2 years I'll be back on the redundancy list again!! Not good when you're too young to take a pension but too old to start a new career.

Keep your chin up and your fingers crossed (and so will I)

Industry I work in has been battered senseless by the idiots in the banks... with no finance available, the companies are now keeping their vans for another year or two before renewing, so they don't want the new livery like they usually do. Result... next to no work about.

Plenty of lads out of work at the minute, or earning a living from another job while things settle down, but I think this recession will last a lot longer here in the UK than anyone previously thought... I'm not holding my breathe for the work to come flowing in again.

Hope you find some new work soon Henk... there is work out there, just not the same work there was a couple of years back :(

Cheers, Dewi

I do network cabling, and the market has about dried up. When things are tight, the last thing companies want to do is upgrade their network infastructure. I'm working 3-4 days a week, with most days only being half days. I think I'll apply as Greeter at Walmart........

Hi, Hank:
I knew what you meant. I've heard others say similar things that can be misunderstood. When someone questions something like that, don't take it hard. Sometimes they know what you mean and just want to poke some fun or tease. ;)

There are people who’s first and only language is English and some of them can't speak or write it as well as you do. While we're on the subject, please never forget to laugh at yourself. Being able to do that can help keep a person healthy and happy.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. This recession is hitting world-wide. Here's hoping you find exactly the right job for you, when you are ready to go back to work. The bright side of this is that maybe you can consider this an opportunity to take some time to do a little care-free week-end camping and/or do some of those things you've been wanting to do.

PS Sorry to hear about your situation. Down here we are up to 35000 jobs being lost on a monthly basis.

Hank.. I understood what you were saying as you wrote it..

and ditto.. don't worry about it.. and do not keep your mouth shut.

You better don't do that. because my mother was teacher Dutch. So, I had a hard learning school years ago. Dutch is avery dificult language to speak end write. Its not logical for strangers. I read the other day a four line advertise with only 45 faults in it. I guess, it was not a Dutchman or woman who wrote it. No, we better write in American, than you can giggle. In about 1 and a half year its easier for me to read and write your language, only my computer is Dutch, so every word is wrong.

Next friday, 8 may, I have to see someone in meat industry for a job. I don't guess, its for forklifttruckdriver (nice scrabble word) but I hope the best for it.

Grtz and thanks for all the nice words from the other side of the earth, Henk
