Holidays in the states?

Postby H@nk » Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:58 am

Hi girls and guys,

Maybe you could help me a little out. In a few weeks, I become a little money, as we call it overhere in The Netherlands, go away money.
Now I was looking and surching and lurking several sides in Europe and northern Africa for a stay from about one week or 8 nights. I was thinking about €750 inclusive flight in an all inclusive resort. Could you give me some thoughts about these sort of resorts in the States? Sites for example? I leave it up to you, thanks already. Greetings out of the Netherlands. Henk

Henk, you are talking about a HUGE area...what do you like to do/see...are you talking about very soon or a bit further in the future...I would check with a local travel agency and see what info they can give you...make a couple of choices and then ask about those...on the East coast, this time of year, the Southside is mighty hot...the New England area may be more to your liking(cooler temps) and would also be closer to the Adirondak Mts areas of Vermont over into upstate New York...more inland are the areas around the Smokey Mts...Gatlinberg Tn to Cherokee NC or further North to the Upper Peninsular of Michigan...4th of July in Daytona Beach Fl or ??? ...Branson Mo or Hot Springs Ar...gambling in Las Vegas Nv...the Rocky Mts from Colorado North...and we haven't even scratched the surface or reached the West Coast...so just what are ya looking for.........

p.s. not too sure how far or long 750 Euros is gonna get ya...or even if you can get a round trip flite for that amount.......MJ

Just to clarify- the Adirondack Park and their mountains lie exclusively within New York state borders. (It's a NY thing) ;)

Hank, 750 euro is about 1050.00 dollars. hate to break your bubble, but you won't get a flight and an inclusive resort for anywhere near that price.... :(

Thanks for all the info. We better stay in europe.
I guess, it will be Greece. Lovely weather and good food.

Rick, didn't mean to offend...I do know that the A-daks lay within up state NY...in fact after travelling extensively throughout our beautiful country, up state NY, the A-daks, Champlaign(sp) Valley are amongst the most scenic areas there are anywhere........

No offense taken MJ- With all the high taxes, political disfunction and high cost of doing business in this state the natural beauty of New York is one of the few things we can be truly proud of.

Not necessarily. I was watching this program on the History Channel called "How the Earth was Made", and they did a show on Loch Ness in Scotland. Turns out that the western side of the Loch has sandstone found only in the Adirondack region of upstate New York. It seems millions of years ago, that part broke apart from North America and collided with England at some point in time. So technically if you are in Europe and want to visit a bit of North America, you only need to go as far as Scotland.

Useless information, but fascinating none the less.
