HELP: Is Anyone Else Experiencing this Virus

Postby Todah Tear » Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:34 pm

Is anyone Else Experiencing this Virus: When I am logged into the internet, different websites will automatically just open up in indiviual windows. It is not just one site in particular. Sometimes the site is in Spanish, sometimes not. Sometimes the sites are advertisements for different products, vacations, this, that, and the other. Even when I am not logged in, but the computer is on sleep, or sceen lock, there will be several internet windows opened w/o accessing their intended website because the internet was not in session.

Additionally, various audio commericials and audio from what seems to be a movie tailers will play while I am NOT logged into the internet.

HOW DO I FIND THESE and GET RID OF THEM???? HELP :?

You might try the following:

1. Download and install the Firefox web browser from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

2. Use Firefox and never, ever, ever use Internet Exploder again.

Your best bet would be to take the HD to another computer and slave it there, then run antivirus on it. Best to try several different types if you can. Like AVG, Antivir, and Malwarebytes, etc.

You can use another computer and do some research on the net also to see if you can find a solution.

I agree with both Mike and Kerry

1) Download Firefox and never use IE again. (On a related note; NEVER, EVER download IE 8. It blew up my computer and has done the same on many other computers out there.)

2) Use a good antivirus program to clean your drive. AVG and Malwarebytes are good.

Agreed - IE8 is a computer resource hog! - Installed it - slowed my NEW computer to a crawl - Ditched it fast

Thanks for the guidance. I will let you know how things pan out. I knew this group had some computer saavy folks!

I posted this request in two areas because I know that everyone doesn't read the Off Topics section.

It would not be so bad, but the sound bits play randomly even when I have a presentation going.
