Any Law enforcement or dept. of Motor Vehicle people ??

Postby Micro469 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:26 pm

The reason I ask is there is a 2001 Chevy S10 sitting in a parking lot up here for the last eight months. No plates, U.S. made, with a Florida dealership sticker on the back, and a Blue Grass Airport employee parking sticker on the mirror. If I notify the DMV up here they will just tow it away.
But it has piqued my curiosity...I want to know more. Was it stolen? Di somebody steal it in the States and then just abandon it here? Or did it just die and the owner just left it in the lot? It's in really good shape...I just might take it for myself....

If it's been stolen, I'm sure there is some insurance Co. that would like to claim it......
If anybody has the ability to trace the VIN #, P.M. me and I will send it to you..

John,

If the truck was titled in Florida you can check the VIN on line.

https://www6.hsmv.state.fl.us/rrdmvcheck/mvcheckinq

It won't tell who owns it though, because of privacy laws. Just the status of the registration.

It's sitting in a carpark just off the 401. The property is owned by the government.........I'd rather let sleeping dogs lie......LOL

If it's on government property, it could have been seized by law enforcement for non-payment of inland revenue taxes or as the means or instruments of a crime or as the fruits of a crime.

When a vehicle is seized for non-payment of taxes, the government in the USA only seizes the owner's equity in the property. When it is sold at auction to satisfy the income tax lein, the new purchaser buys it subject to all prior liens. That vehicle may be awaiting a tax sale or a forfeiture sale.

Just my speculation.

Not quite that cut and dried. This is a highway carpool parking lot. Cars park there to carpool into the city. It's supposed to be monitored, but if an unlicenced car can sit there for 8 months with no questions asked.... somebodies not doing their job....

I misunderstood when you said it was "Government" property. But I am in total shock that a Government, any Government wouldn't be doing their job. Even crime wouldn't pay if the Government ran it.

I don't mean to pick on Government, because in many instances they do a good job, maybe not a cost efficient job but they keep us safe and the traffic flowing. Having spent most of my working life in the US Government, I know that many of us were hard working, however.....

Drop a dime on somebody in charge of the parking lot, oops, it's a quarter for a phone call now, and see what happens.

Was thinking about that, but the only thing that would happen is that the truck would be towed away...... Then I'd never find out what the story on it was.. You know.....Curiosity allways kills the cat......

John:

Decisions, decisions. If you know any locale police and call them they could tell you in general the results of their investigation without naming names. A cup of coffee and a donut goes a long way.

Try contacting the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, Ky and give them the employee tag number.

Maybe Carfax? Last time I used it I got the owners address from them.

Have you tried just putting the vin number in Google? You never know what will come up.

Also, lots of poopie hit the fan at Blue Grass Airport in February of this year. Quite a few employees in big trouble. Could be related?
