My teardrop didn't sell on ebay. I can't believe it! My wife has hid all sharp instruments in the house from me for fear that I might use one of them to hurt myself!

Put it back on. Or put it on Craigslist.

rln99,
Just a thought; I have sold hundreds of things on ebay and would never think of having a reserve without revealing the amount.
If I am the guy with the bucks, why wouldn't you tell me what I really have to pay?
I have listed an antique engine I would have been happy to sell for $1000 and set the reserve at $1500 and stated the amount in the description. The reserve was hit the next day and the bidding eventually went to nearly $2000.
The guy who was your highest bidder might have hit the reserve if he had time to think about it... and knew what it was. Once someone decides that the reserve is a fair price and hits it... then the bidding starts. All you need is two people that really want the item and they will decide how much they are willing to pay. If they know it will work.

Hope this helps,

All right, I'll wait till after the holidays to off myself. Until then, I will relist it, but this time, with the reserve price stated. We'll see how that goes.

I will go with Tinker on this, if it is a high dollar item I want to see the beginning bid/reserve up front. I am having this problem with solar panels now, as with a couple of these jokers I have no clue and when 200$ is less than the reserve for an 80W panel I am not going further.
This is also not the time of year I would be looking, a couple of months when folks are starting to think of spring...

My teardrop didn't sell on ebay.

Ignoring the Ebay issue for a moment, I must sincerely compliment you on an amazing build! That teardrop appears to be one of the nicest-looking, highest-quality builds I've ever seen... and I have been looking at them for quite some time.

I would think that with oldtinker's sage Ebay advice that in short order you may be singing a different tune.

All things are seasonal... well most are. Right now, most people are not thinking of camping... if you do not sell it, put it up in feb/march next year... that is when the climate will be better.

And Feb/March people are getting their income tax refunds and it is burning a hole in their pocket.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Another odd thing about eBay (at least in my experience). If the starting bid is lower than the reserve, then it takes 2 bidders to advance the price, bidding against each other. If there is only one bidder, they will sit at their original bid forever!
