My teardrop didn't sell on ebay.

Just a thought; I have sold hundreds of things on ebay and would never think of having a reserve without revealing the amount.
If I am the guy with the bucks, why wouldn't you tell me what I really have to pay?
I have listed an antique engine I would have been happy to sell for $1000 and set the reserve at $1500 and stated the amount in the description. The reserve was hit the next day and the bidding eventually went to nearly $2000.
The guy who was your highest bidder might have hit the reserve if he had time to think about it... and knew what it was. Once someone decides that the reserve is a fair price and hits it... then the bidding starts. All you need is two people that really want the item and they will decide how much they are willing to pay. If they know it will work.
