Oasis Maker wrote:Ahh yes, take me back to albums. Not only nostalgic but any audiophile will tell you they sound much better than digital too. Add that to the lost art of liner notes and great photography ... (Well I did just put my entire CD collection on my computer. Amazing technology, but it's just not the same.)
Pass the eggnog and Nat King Cole please... and with just a slight scratch as you gently lower the needle.

Absolutely. Having grown up in the eighties, 8-tracks were out, cassettes were in, and who could afford 13$ for a CD? And you couldn't <ahem> archive a copy from your buddy like you could a cassette-tape.
Mom and Dad would bust out the old records pretty often. Mom loved the Beach Boys and had all their albums. We'd play old christmas records while decorating the tree and just generally at every christmas function.
Enter the late 90s, a buddy of mine was hugely interested in old punk-vinyl from the 70s and 80s. You couldn't get this stuff on anything but vinyl. We started collecting records (all genres) at a mad pace.
I got my Technics turntable from a flea-market for like 30$. I put a new cartridge in it for $45. Its worth at least $200 and sounds awesome.
Besides, its a fun "production" to go through the record collection, select one, then carefully put it on the turntable, close the lid, then hit "Start" and watch the tone-arm cruise over and start playing!
Rockin' good times!
