In the vein of "not like the old days", I have a beef with duct tape. Todays product just doesn't seem to stick.

When I got my Puck, I decided to reupholster the cushions. On the underside was 30 year old duct tape covering the staples. I had to yank hard to remove it. Covered the new staples with new tape. It stayed on less than 2 weeks.

The front vents on my VW leak so I cover them with duct tape. Use to stay on for several years. Now? Couple days.

Don't tell me to buy a better tape unless you can tell me WHICH tape to buy.

look for Nashua brand, it's the real deal. Used in HVAC installs and the like. The model 357 is very good (just one example), the name is printed on the tape to identify it. Lots of knock-offs out there these days. I know what you mean, some is little better than scotch tape.

I second the Nashua brand.
We use the 398-7020000 and 398-8020000 industrial grade at work(environmentally exposed surfaces).

One word - Gorilla Tape !!!! Some of the stickiest tape I have ever used . Will not come off without a struggle !!!!

I have gotten Nashua at HD in the past Judy. Not sure on the Gorilla brand.

Nashua brand for sure. But unless you're working on HVAC, buy their gaffer's tape. Natural rubber adhesive that doesn't leave residue. A water-proof adhesive. And a real fabric backing.

I use Gaffer's tape -- real Gaffer's tape, not duct tape mislabeled. I get mine at a professional photographer's camera store. It is not cheap, but it sticks better, is stronger, and you can remove it without leaving goop on things.
