custom cage

Postby droid_ca » Mon Jan 03, 2011 11:08 pm

I was wondering if anyone new of a place o where I could get a custom bird cage or of a place where I could build it myself as the only ones that I have found are really expensive and not really what I'm looking for
Oh it's for an african grey if that matters

cage

Image This is a very simple cage to make. Just using some cheap 2x2 and good old hardware cloth. I just made a small dado down the middle if the 2x2 about 1/2" to3/4" deep for the hardware cloth to sit in so this eliminates the staples that may cut or injure your pet . then you put them together in panels like a puzzle.as you can see it has draws at the bottom that need to be finished for all the pet supplies. this one is a iguana cage . I have some flying squirrels that would love to move in .

thanks for the reply but a bird would chew that wood in no time and the hardware cloth isn't really good for birds as it contains lead but thanks for trying . I have an idea for hinging an already made cage and cutting it down but still not to sure if that will work or not

Hardware cloth comes in stainless steel and aluminum and bronze... and the frame could be spaced enough away from the wood, or flavor it with capsaicin, but then they might get a liking for the burn.
