After all the flooding they got down under, today they got hit by a level 5 Cyclone, which is one step stronger than Hurricanes Katrina and Ike.

What a year for storms!

You Aussies check in and tell us you are okay.

It may be a couple of day before we hear! I am trying to remember who we have on that side. Paul is in Adelaide. He might know as most were on his site too. :worship:

Thanks for the thoughts. None of us are that close to the problem. It hit far north Queensland about 1000 miles north of Brisbane (That's where Reiner is). So far only lots of damage, no deaths. We all might be lucky with this one.
Cheers

Oz is Awesome

Sometimes we forget how large Australia really is... but what is shown here in the states is pretty serious for those living in the afflicted areas. May the damage be minimal, and the safety & quality of life quickly returned.

Nanny, Brisbane suffered the floods a few weeks ago and now the cyclone in the north of the same state. This is going to take years for them to get over.

Paul, as a media photographer, I've seen the aftermath of a category 4 hurricane. It is amazing, in a very scary way. This cyclone in Australia probably won't get a lot of coverage here, but I can't help but think that it is going to be a really big deal where it hit.

I am glad to hear that there was plenty of warning, but if Aussies are like Americans, I'm guessing some people tried to weather the storm.

We are having a teardrop gathering in May at the last US town wiped out by a Hurricane, here in Texas. I think there are still about 40 people they never found. That was a category 4 storm.

We're just across the Tasman Sea and the coverage of the Cyclone on the news here in New Zealand has been really detailed. It is a relief to hear that so far no lives have been lost, the cost in wrecked homes however is going to be huge!

One thing I have learned from living next door to Australia for the past 13 years is although their rugby is a bit patchy you can't keep an Aussie down! They are really tough, all of them!

We hope you are all back camping, caravanning and teardriopping really soon
