Thought to ask what is a good free photo editing program?

Our old labtop died and was wondering if there are any good downloadable programs available? I had Picture It 7 which I liked but cant find it anymore.

I use Aperture and photoshop but this is suppose to be a great free program.

...if you want something free, that will do EVERYTHING, Gimp is a really good choice...if you want something simpler that just does basic stuff, try www.irfanview.com ........................
