Police say a theft suspect was found in an office building's crawl space after his cigarette smoke gave away his hiding place.
South Greensburg police Chief Scott Fanchalsky says officers searched for 30-year-old Daniel Block for hours Wednesday afternoon before two employees smelled smoke coming from above the ceiling on the fourth floor.
Officers crawled in after Mr. Block and he surrendered peacefully.
A worker at a nearby gas station called police about Mr. Block. Chief Fanchalsky said officers tried to take him into custody but he escaped and ran into the office building, prompting a lock down.
