Cool link. It confirms my suspicions about why I'm always broke. Apparently I'm living very impoverished. That's before my child support gets paid. gotta rob from three kids to pay for another kids, moms, drug habit. Go figure.

I think that the people at MIT are a bit off. Looking at the graph, a family with two adults and two kids pay $0 a month in childcare. If it takes both parents working to pay the bills, then there's childcare.

And if it takes two parents working to maintain your standard of living, then your standard is too high. That's one reason houses are being foreclosed on. People buy above their standard and what is really needed to live at the time. It's like a new job. You can't expect to start at the top, like so many expect. You work your way up. That's life. Oh and one other thing. Your kids don't need the newest and latest gadgets on the market just because little Johnny down the street has one.

 How do I get this back on subject beings how I kind of side tracked this thread. Oh I know, I found a good replacement for Hostess pies/turnovers. It’s Mrs. Redd’s. A course they are located in California. But that’s good for us on the left coast.

I actually agree with you, the problem is that the bills include student loans and past credit mistakes. We're working our way out of the situation. There's also other details, but I don't want to derail the thread further.

To stay on topic, I always thought that Mrs bairds had better pies, so I'm not sad to see hostess go.

OMG!! Not Zingers too! Whole darn country is going to Heck on roller skates.

So the story is, according to the Wall Street Journal, that the distribution system was so fouled up by the work rules that the bakers rightly concluded Hostess wouldn't make a go of it, no matter what. So what is a buyer going to want? Bakers or truck drivers? The bakers will be ok, and the shaft to the truckers. Union vs. union. May as well take unemployment until the company sells, then the bakers get their jobs back.

At least that's what the guy at WSJ thinks. Makes sense to me.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

The new buyer does not have to open the now closed factory and reemploy the old workers. They may only buy the recipe and proprietary information. The Twinkies could be made in with their current production. Maybe a non Union factory and no one gets their jobs back. We will have to see how it shakes out. One thing is for sure, the Twinkie will live again.

Oh ya. I'm not sure what will happen to the workers but the Twinki will be back. This is the best thing that has ever happened to the Twinki. People who have not eaten them in 10 years are searching high and low for them. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. And .... You don't know what you got till it's gone. Etc.... Etc.....

Hate to kick a dead horse, er... snack cake. But this whole thing made me think of this song.
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.
