How to have fun and travel in the snow

I have one of these almost finished. I only need a mast and then knock up a body shell/seat arrangement. I also have most of the parts for a second one. These things will cruise easily at 50 mph and if you push it, you can get over 60 mph on the beach. I saw on TV where a group of these crossed the Sahara Desert with little trouble. I would love to fit skis on mine and take it to the snow fields. Main problem here is there is very little flat country and not much consistent wind in the snow areas. The speed available is at least 3 times the wind speed. With ice skates, they do over 100mph. On snow, I would think they would do a minimum of 50 mph. If I lived in the US, I would sail/drive it along the long paddock when the roads were all blocked or even on the snow covered roads. At least if you were running it in the long paddock, you wouldn't hit any cars. As for stopping, yes, they do stop or you can do a 180 in twice its length and then stop. They can also carry two people at 60 mph. I would love to try it out on the snow.



I had a video of two people sitting in tandem doing 60 mph on the beach somewhere. They did a 180 to stop, very exciting stuff. If I can find the video, I will post it for you to see.

There is a land sailing club at Kambalda, about 55 k south of Kalgoorlie. They sail on Lake Lefroy, a very large salt lake.
They have been going a while. I first saw them in action on the lake back around 1971. Very spectacular.
I have done a fair amount of sailing over the years but have confined my activities to having the wet stuff under the boat. The barnacles prefer it.

I had a canoe I rigged for sailing that one year I mounted skates to it and wound up with something like that. Even with a light wind it was scary fast, and stopping was a challenge to do with out tipping over The problem with them around here is the conditions are only right for them with skates for a week or two every couple years. I never tried one with skis but I assume it would take a lot more wind due to the extra friction of skis over skates.

Thanks Kody for bringing this to light it gives me some ideas of a project I'd like to try and build...(just what I need another project) Do you have pictures of the one that your building would love to see them....Did you build it from scratch or is it a kit? Do you have any links to these for parts resources...Hmmm looks like my trailer might get delayed some more
