Just a proud dad

Postby robfisher » Sat Jan 12, 2013 12:50 am

In November 2011 I asked for help with a very limited budget camera for my daughter. She was able to buy a used Canon T3 and is very happy with it. She's living 800 miles away now and at the age of 17 I wasn't really ready to have her gone. But she's doing great, working at a church part time plus being a nanny for 3 young kids. She's had one of pictures published in a local paper and has done some senior pictures for students who otherwise couldn't have afforded any. Don't worry you professionals; she isn't taking any of your business.

Here's a youtube video of a very talented local teenager's rendition of 'Come to Me' set to Lydia's snapshots pre T3. The song is beautiful.

Rob,

Looks like a new camera wasn't really needed...

Congratulations, your daughter sees more clearly than most. :)

Thanks for looking and the kind words. The house is pretty empty now that the kids are gone. Lydia is my baby and the last to fly. It happened so quickly.

You with kids still at home, Enjoy them. They are a gift.

It's great to hear about someone so young follwing their dreams.

I don't mean to draw any attention but I moved out of the house 4 years ago at the age of 18, bounced around a bit from Missouri, to Utah, to California and now own a bakery that is quite successful at a seemingly mature 22 years of age.
It's all gone by so fast that I seem to have forgotten about the family I left back home...

I can only hope my folks can say such nice things about me. Sometimes we get so caught up in the swift current of life, we forget to let people know how much we appreciate their part in ours.

Make sure you let your wonderful daughter know her worth regularly. Im sure it means more to her than she'd lead on.

And what great pictures!!
Those people that constantly need a pat on the back to feel proud of thier accomplishments typically don't go very far...

My son went away to college last spring. His school is only afew hours away, so he's home on break now, but I was a complete basket case for at least a week in the begining. I also have a 13yr old daughter, who's making my hair turn greyer by the minute. She's the spark in my life, but this teenage stage is going to drive me back to drinking! I know when it's her time to fly, it's going to kill me.

Basket Case??? Wait till the 13 year old leaves. Oh my! I've been "helping" kids out the door for several years and none affected me like this one. I've walked 3 down the isle and handed them over to gorillas, crying my eyes out each time. But I now know that was nothing. The real test is leaving your baby girl in a city 3 states away.
