When we lived in the US in Toledo OH, we would get these lousey marketer calls all the time. I stopped them very easily with the following message that I left on my phone.
"Guday mate, I can't take your call right now. All my kangaroos smashed the fence down and have hopped away in sheer terror after a huge thunder storm. Leave a message and when I have rounded up the poor things, I will give ya a holler".
The message was spoken in my best Aussie accent and I never got another Tele-marketer call again. All that was recorded were lots of "clicks" as the caller's hung up.I had heaps of fun in the US with my accent, no-one could understand a word I spoke, especially my in-laws. There were many times however that trying to buy something was impossible, so my (US) wife had to speak for me.
