I believe any accurate forecast involves slaughtering a chicken and "reading" the entrails.
It's far beyond my level of education.

I made my trip to the Midwest states in August, this past summer. Even though the Midwest was having a serious drought, It still rained in every state that I went to. In Idaho, it rained so hard that I had to pull off the road for about an hour. One never knows; so, you plan for whatever can happen, within reason, of course.

Also, plan for delays because of road construction, especially in the Midwest. They seem to be doing a lot of that in August, when the weather is the most predictable.

I learned very early to plan on bad weather and CR with it's three tarps keep a lot of territory under cover.
In contrast to Sharron's experience, during our trip west last summer we had one shower that rearranged the dust on the car and trailer in one month of travel. Our rear tarp is headed back to QahaQue today to have mosquito netting added and a couple of grommets.
I carry a Reecom weather radio/alarm with us.

Plan for the worst, hope for the best. Go regardless of the weather and have a blast! I've been to quite a few Tearjerker's gatherings that have be poured on, and they turned out to be some of the most fun.
