Coopers Pale Ale
The
Pale Ales run about 4.5% alcohol. And are good for the long hot summer drinking many.
I also enjoy the IPA's AKA India Pale Ales and Double IPA's.
My selections above are made with more hops and alcohol.
Thus a IPA & Double IPA usually has double the hops and most of the time has higher alcohol.
They usually run between 6-11% alcohol, and are good for about 3 to 5 20oz pints max.
Your country has some good
Pale Ales eh?
When the sun never set on the British Empire:
British breweries had Guinness type dark ales aplenty and would want to ship them to India.
Well, all wasn't well by the time the dark more sweet ales got to India, SO ....
The History of India Pale Ales: Originally developed in the late 1700's,
British breweries would send beer via sail to the troops and British
expatriates in India. Problem was, there was no refrigeration and the ocean
voyage took nearly five months. As a result, the beer would usually arrive
in compromised condition. Well, the brewers of the time didn't know as
much about beer as we do today, but they did know that both hops (where
we get the bitterness in beer) and alcohol act as natural preservatives. So,
they came up with a brew that was intensely hopped and rather high in
alcohol --- thus the birth of the "India Pale Ale."
