Admins: How does someone register here?

Postby Ira » Tue May 08, 2007 7:49 am

This is weird:

I posted a link to my Smoker thread here (Recipes) on a barbecue site that I go to, and it seems that unless you're registered, you can't see in-post photos. Is there a point to that restriction?

But be that as it may, another guy said he DID register, and he still can't see the photos.

But be THAT as it may...

I'm looking everywhere now and don't even see WHERE to register. Did that option disappear for me because I'm already registered? And where do I direct newbies to do so?

Just trying to make it all a little easier for people and to help spread the TD word. A lot of people won't bother to register at first just to look, but if they can't see in-post photos (or albums, I'm assuming), they won't be motivated to do it at all.

I may be missing something and there may be valid reasons for why things are as they are, but I'm curious.

Ira,

I know I'm not an Admin, however, the Register link is at the top of the page with all the other links (far right on top row). Click it and register. You can see it if you visit the site and not sign in.

Okay...so that's why I don't see it. I log in automatically when I visit the site. But now I can tell them top row, to the right.

Thanks!

I think Ira is going to create a new profile so he can come in here and argue with himself.

HAH!!!

Actually, at one time I was thinking about doing that as a joke. But it seemed too infantile...even for ME.

I'm not saying it wasn't close, but common sense won out for once.

You're not crazy if you talk to yourelf.
You're not crazy if you answer yourself.
But when you answer yourself and go "Huh?!" - THEN you're crazy.

...Ira, iif you have auto sign-in activated you won't see the "register" button but it is at the top to the right...a button labeled "register"...as far as the pics go...well, they are a privilege of membership...register and you can see 'em all...if someone is having problems seeing the pics after registration, they have a security setting for this site set in too high a position .....

Okay--that explains it then.

Is the security setting for this site something they change in Windoze?

yep...they need to set it to a "medium" level or put this site in the "trusted" category (Windoze internet options)...there have also been some issues reported with 3rd party popup blockers but I cannot confirm that issue......

I can't see Album pics unless I'm logged on.

Hmmm... I predict that we shall have a new member very soon and his handle shall be Florida Farmer.
