Finding People!

Postby elmo » Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:41 pm

Little bored today and started to look up old friends...what is the best way to do this? I tried just googling a name, but end up with someone trying to tell me they know everything about the person I am looking for and if I sign up I will get the info. There has to be a way without paying for it.

What do all you stalkers out there do? :)

Did the Google thing and the whitepages.com...with no luck.

I already googled my self today....wow...does that sound wrong! Nothing to exciting...just a reminder of when I was in shape...lots of bicycle and marathon results.

If they're high school or college friends you could try classmates.com. You can browse and search for free to get addition info does cost a little bit. it seems to average about 35 - 40% of the people I went to school with.

Classmates.com is a good place to try. So is Reunion.com. Also, Yahoo People Search is good if you know a general locaction. I used that when I was trying to locate missing classmates for a 25th class reunion and was fairly successful.

I agree about classmates.com. I made my first High School ever, the 50th, this year. This was the most fun short vacation, 4 days, I have ever had. It was because someone thought to look me up on classmates.

Isn't that the truth.

I tried the classmate/reunion stuff...again they want you to join and pay a fee. The people I was looking for weren't that exciting otherwise I would still be in contact with them.

A few good places to look:

myspace.com or facebook.com for the younger crowd.

linkedin.com for the business types.

Much like whitepages.com/dexonline.com/anywho.com (phonebook sites) is a great source for tracking people is zabasearch.com.

Zaba will tell you if you're finding the right person or not due to it telling you when they were born and where the different places they've lived.

Good luck. The internet is very powerfull.

Edit: Oh yea ... everyone should look up their own records on Zaba - it's a small little tool to see if anyone is stealing your identity. Be sure to put in your state at first.

I just started searching email address at yahoo for people I new, then emailed everyone asking them if they were the person I was looking for.
I found my best friend from highschool that way after 20+ years of no contact. He's the Vice President of a large pharmacy company in Cincinnati
(it's to early to worry about spelling) we exchanged email a couple times. Found out I think he got to big for time for me.

The moral of my story is be careful who you look up you might not like who you find. The friends I have now I've known longer than anyone I ever went to school with

My best friends from school and I kind of split ways when I got out of the Marine Corps...they were 2 brothers and when I got back we just didn't have that much in common anymore. I call them every once in awhile, but not much more than that.

A friend of mine was looking for one of his grade school buddies from when he lived in Gremany. He Googled his name and turned up a bunch of hits. He had the same name as his dad, so there were a bunch of hits for his dad. Turned out his dad was still in the Air Force and is now a 4-star general in the Pentagon.

He e-mailed his office, and told them who he was. Suprisingly, he got his buddy's e-mail from them. I guess he remembered who he was.
