What projects do you have going on at home? Here are some of mine......
Front Garden in the middle of perfect lawn suburbia I have 17 tons of rock and all california native plants it still needs a few trees


Just finished this bathroom, Wainscotting, and install of stained glass window,



And in our backyard retreat more stained glass, setting a stone seating area, and an antique wood stove. can't wait till this part is done.

You obviously don't do anything around the house.


Twenty years ago we planted two raywood ash trees in our small front yard. The roots thought some of the concrete was in the way so moved it. Busted the driveway, front walkway, side walkway, railroad tie steps, and started on the neighbors driveway. Last February the trees were removed. Got two cords of wood out of that! The better half was bemoaning the fact that HER plants got some sawdust on them, not watching where she was going, tripped on the cracked concrete and broke her kneecap. Once the rains stopped we pulled out all the broken concrete and railroad tie steps and replaced it all with ten yards of exposed aggregate. Yeah, yeah. I know ya luv dem pics, but they are on a slow machine and need to be uploaded in my spare time. We have spent the past couple of weeks installing sprinklers, landscape lighting, and other do-dads. The teardrop was put back in its spot just last Sunday since we had to wait for the new concrete to cure and then get the other stuff off the trailer pad. Next weekend is going to be a planting weekend.

I have a pretty diverse list of projects, these are the projects that I've completed.

I modded my XBOX for S&Gs Now it is painted metallic blue with a metal "X" overlay. The center jewel was polished with blue neon behind it.


This is the pond right after I installed it in the front yard. Two preformed pools with a waterfall.

Here is my toy car after I swapped the engine for a twin cam engine that was only available overseas.


This is the 16X10 shed I built. I put 2 doors on it so that I wouldn't have to pull the riding mower out every time I needed to get in and out.


The funny thing about these projects is that they don't end. I have to mess with them again. The shed needs to be pressure washed and painted. The car needs the transmission pulled and the clutch repaired. The pump went out in the pond so it needs to be cleaned out so I can start over.

It never ends.

Man, I feel guilty now about bitchen because I had to mow the lawn today.

My yard was so unlevel when we moved in I wanted to get a mower big enough to accept "Ground Engaging Implements" I got the smallest one that would. Also I hate cutting grass, the faster I get it done, the better.

We have mower races in my neighborhood, we don't drive around on them . I'll have to PM you about the Xbox.

The British Lawn Mower Racing Association used to run endurance lawn mower races of up to 24 hours, but they've had to cut them back to 12 hours as no-one stayed sober long enough to race the full 24 hours.......

A year and a half ago, we started landscaping the front yard, turning it from a mass of ivy and monkey grass into an area with 35+ raised bed boxes, beds of native and "regular" azaleas, daylilies, hosta's, hydrangea, elephant ears, magnolias, holly's, ferns, trillium, jack-in-the-pulpit, etc.. Last fall finished up the formal path through the whole business.

In between we built a three level deck in the back yard with ramps and a boardwalk running behind the house. Built MORE boxes for fruit trees and blueberry bushes. Put together a small greenhouse. Enclosed an area for a large garden. Replaced some of the siding and painted the house and porches.

This year we've enclosed 3/4's of the backyard in a privacy fence. The next project is rebuilding a 125 foot retaining wall and making it sturdy enough for a large water garden.

Also been helping my oldest son get his "new" house (built in 1911) ready to move in; insulating the attic, resealing ductwork under the house, washing walls, painting, scrubbing stoves, pulling carpet, redoing wood floors, refencing areas of the backyard.

This past winter we purchased 8 acres of land that was mainly overgrown meadow and woods. Been slowly clearing this; have run an 800 foot new fence (more fencing to come), trying to avoid masses of poison ivy.

We bought the teardrop so we could go camping and get away from all these "projects" (many of which seem to start in the dead of hot, humid Georgia summers).

In hindsight, I wish we'd have taken pictures of all these projects. These pictures could have been placed in our coffins as a reminder of what finally killed us.

OK, I'm Jealous of everyone's pond!!!

My hoem projects are as follows (no pics yet, shoudl take some this weekend and then provide link)

After I bought the house last year, we ripped out the damaged (yes damaged) kitchen and redid it by ourselves, and right now we have ripped out a non-load bearing wall that separated the laundry room and nook and kitchen and are working on that. so now, instead of a kitchen, nook, laundry room (three little rooms), we'll have one large kitchen and the laundry area and water heater will be in their own closets.

Also, we redid the front yard by adding a nice flower garden.

Currently, we're working on the backyard. to date, we've put in 3 roses, 3 azelias, a lilac, and some glads back there, adn we're int eh process of making a border or flower bed. the grass int eh center of the lawn is dying as there is NO SHADE for it. we'll be covering it up and eventually putting in a coupel of raised beds for veggies and a strawberry terrace. also, we're going to tear down and repalce the large ancient shed that is leaning and reading to fall on it's own, and we're also going to put in a pond. lastly, we'll put sod down in the "dog run" area along the side of the house where there is plenty of shade so the dogs have a potty spot. Oh, and we're also going to redo the back patio and expand it a bit.

Whew! lotsa work, but wait! there's more!

The hardwood floors are damaged and need to be repalced. We'll be putting lmainate over them this year. Also, I need to finish painting the moldings and baseboards. And the ancient inefficent floor heater needs to go at some point.

There, I think i'm finished. I bought a house that needed lots of work, but hey, i liek the progress and it keeps us real busy.

I'll have to take pics of the progress and post them. i'll get to it friday, then i'll edit.

Upgrade electrical in whole house (2 wire to 3 wire)
Complete interior paintjob
Clearing rear 1/4 acre of lot

Future Projects:
Restore original hardwood floors
Convert garage into additional living/dining area
Add 2nd bathroom
Build new storage building on rear of lot.
Adding lights to closets/dark areas

Isn't it "fun" redoing wood floors....

Tonight Michael and I pulled up and hauled out the smelly carpet from the front room. Found beautiful hardwood floors underneath, untouched for probably decades and (of course) in far better shape than the uncovered wood floors in two of his other rooms.

wish mine were in such great shape. the previous owners ripped out their carpet and the original wood floors form 1926 were there, with huge plywood patches in various rooms and painted over three or four layers of PAINT. right now i have a shabby chic look going on as i left the floors alone for now and didn't cover them. i don't want to rip up the orginal hardwood, but with all the patches and staples and junk, i don't think it can be saved. besides, the dogs scratch it when they chase each other, so i'm going laminate and will keep the old floor underneath in case of future fixing.
