Hi Kerry

Its been a long night but the main computer is up and Im not sure what this wave style scrolling is now but other than that Ive got a new Hard Drive and reinstalled Xp again and Im still uncertain about the
email settings.. Had to update the Windows again and that took the longest of time.. :?

I do have the old hard drive and to be honest I havent had a chance to think about it yet.. ;)

Kerry try sending me an email

Do you know if the setting is supposed to be IMAP or Pop3 ?

I was told if the settings had been IMAP the emails would have not been lost..but the setting was pop3 before.. does that have anything to do with
the funny scrolling? Or the settings of the font? They were just huge until I set them...?

Small bugs to work on but Im back on.. :)

Capn

If you had Pop3 before, then it should be pop3 now.

You email settings should have nothing to do with your scrolling problem.

Not sure about the fonts being connected to scrolling problem.

I will send you an email shortly!!

No no Im alive, Ive been working on this computer all week and looks like Im finally getting it back to normal :?

Still working on the strange scrolling problem... cant seem to clear that no how.

Boy am I glad I can do somthing again.. paid 51 Euro for a new hard drive and had to install everything all over.. it took forever to get all the updates and junk needed.

But somewhat getting it going again..apologies for not be too active here but the ol antique computer I was using that thing is terrible..

Were looking for a different computer still but for 51 Euro to get this running isnt too bad, till the entire screen goes...hope not yet anyways.

Best regards Capn.

You might want to go to the website of the PC manufacturer and download the video drivers for your machine. It sounds like that is your culprit. XP doesn't have the full drivers for a lot of them, it will just install a generic one if it doesn't have the right one. That's where you get the wave effect.

Missed the font thing. If you don't have the proper video drivers install your settings for the display may not be high enough and sometimes can't get high enough until you install the proper display drivers. That will give you the big fonts because your screen resolution is too low.

DOO! Why did I not catch that too! I was thinking that I should tell Heiki to go to the manufacturer's site and get all of the updated drivers, must have slipped my mind (CRS and CRAFT, ya know)! Must have been thinking and working too much to get the TJ site back up and running again!! :(

Oh, well, Heiki, go and get all of the updated drivers that your manufacturer offers for your machine. There may be other things that are not obvious right now and updated drivers can prevent lots of problems. :)

Yah, I can still remember when I quit about 30 years ago! I chewed lots and lots of sugarfree gum!!! I think that drinking coffee or beer were the hardest times to keep from lighting up!! I had cut back (like you) to just a few a day and one day about 9AM I lit the first one of the day. It just tasted bad, so I put it out and have not had one since.

Hang in there, you can do it!!

Rich I also didnt have service pack 2 before this, I had the cd and installed that also, would that have had anything to do with it? Then a new Radeon 9000 drive and this is where Im at now,

However now Im trying to get the lettering and all on the screen to normal size how is that actually done..

Looks sort of small .. but other than that Im up and running better than I was..

Rich is there such a thing as updating Bios and if so how is that done?

Heikki ;)

Thanks Everyone, I would of never been able to do it without you..You guys are the best ... :shake hands: :awesome:

The service pack shouldn't have effected it, it's mostly just MS updates.

However now Im trying to get the lettering and all on the screen to normal size how is that actually done..

Couple of ways.....right click on your desktop and then click on 'properties'
it will take you right to it.
You need to click on the 'settings' tab and make sure your screen resolution is at 600x800 or higher and see what the color quality is at. Should be 16 or 32, 32 is best. Also while in there ckick on the advanced button and see what your refresh rate is set at 'monitor' tab. The higher the better.

Looks sort of small .. but other than that Im up and running better than I was..

Rich is there such a thing as updating Bios and if so how is that done?

Yes there is and stay away from there!!!! If you do it wrong you will be back to square one or worse!

Heikki ;)

Edit- Ooops, missed that you said it looks sort of small. You may have the screen resolution higher than what you are used to. MS tends to default to 1024x768, you may have had it on 800x600. Of it could be higher and you just need to drop it back to 1024x768. Much of it depends on the size of the monitor.
