many moons ago in tech school one of my classmates lost the minuscule fastening device which held the earpiece to the lens frame of her (GI issue, homemade-mud-fence-ugly, thick black plastic) eyeglasses.

one of our instructors was from Georgia, and had this molassess-thick drawl. His favorite descriptive term for something small was "itty bitty baby-girl".

I didn't hear the original conversation but I did hear one of the instructors ask the class if they could help (Airman Doe) find a "quickie."

(... three beats: "She needs an itty-bitty baby-girl screw," the instructor explains, "so she doesn't go blind.")
