Internet explorer 7

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Hello, SmartOnes ... or they that use the force to the max~

Oh how it warms the cockles of my heart to see and feel the love fest for open source. Firefox (Ff) is such a joy with colored tab browsing and multiple home page settings. Having both google browser tool bars makes working this forum a pleasure. Now the Extensions with a plethora of personal choice brings a smile to the soul. And yes the IE tab Extension can keep all your Archean Dark Side pages in order. When I decided to put NOIA (extreme) 3.12 theme = skin on my Ff browser my eyes got a break and my experience has been even more enhanced.

Yes ... yes ... Ff sure makes the browsing experience a joy. It is so good to see and hear that others have moved away from the "Dark Side" of Vader-Gates's grasp. A sigh of satisfaction would surely come over this forum if all would move away with alacrity from the "Dark Side".

Oh let me bathe in the glow of knowing there are so many smartOnes using this forum.

you know Steve, it amazes me that there are freeware substitutes for almost all commercial programs that are in general everyday usage and virtually all of them work better than versions that have been bought and paid for...Firefox, Thunderbird, Mozilla, Gimp, Picassa, OpenOffice, CutePDF are only a few.......

I think corporate America, my small office included, is so trained to believe that biggger is better; more expensive means better product; if a majority is using it, it must be good and I have to have it, too; if it is free, it must be an inferior product that you can't get fixed. I almost think that if they slapped a $175 price on Firefox, people would want it.

I am having fun exploring the options with Firefox--installed the showcase tab, IE tab, world clock so I can see what time it is in Munich where my sister lives, saved multiple tabs as homepage. You folks were right. It is a good, stable, pleasing program.

I just wish there was an add-on for a radar detection tab that would show missle launches from Redmond, WA aimed at Corpus Christi. Bill's gonna get even with me--I know it!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Back when some of Corp. America had to make some decisions on what software to standardize on, there wasn't much to choose from.

GM chose Office, Lotus Notes and Netscape. They've since moved over to IE.

But it's a training issue for GM. Everyone knows MS Office. If they were to switch to a different package, they'd have to retrain everyone. That's not going to happen anytime soon.

Even job postings I look at have a requirement that the applicant be familar with the Office Suite of Tools.

I can understand why much of Corp America has picked the MS Office Suite... It's familar, it's the defacto standard, no training reqd. Site licenses available, and for the most part it's predictible.

That makes suites like Open Office more applicable to smaller companies, and home users. And that's not all bad!!!
