How do you get rid of MOLES!

I have been using this trap for several years . I have caught at least 60 moles! It NEVER misses when its tripped. When I see a new tunnel , I flatten a portion of it to see if it is an active tunnel . the next day I set the trap if it is. It is a VERY effective trap. My neighbors have been using the old plunger style & have NEVER killed a mole. It is the best money I have ever spent !
I also use a mole spray on my lawn once or twicer a yaer. I get it at Lowes , it is made of castor oil. Moles HATE castor, they will not come into my yard very often. When they do i use the trap. Its called Mole be gone or somathing like that . Its in the garden section at Lowes.

I don't want to say I am glad to see that others have this problem as well. But I am glad there are things I can do.

I just ordered the Mole trap. I have no problem killing these little vermin!
But will stop way short of eating them.

Good luck WB! Using the scissors style trap is great. I know some say get rid of the food source & the moles go away , but I think it is all most impossible to do that. They eat grubs ,earth worms & other critters that live in the soil. I have used Grubx killer on my lawn for several years, it seems to help keep the grubs in check so they don't eat my grass roots. But the moles are still lurking about. I am working on my neighbors to use the spray & trap & it is helping. My mole issues have been dwindling for the last year or so. Again Good luck & keep a count of moles you get ! It is SSOOOOO VERY pleasing when you see your trap tripped & you pull a DEAD mole out !!!! The only good mole , is a dead mole !!!!( sorry PETA ) . By the way does PETA stand for - people eat the animals ???

No problem Matt , I woulda skinned all the moles I killed & made a coat ,but I could not figure out how to sew them all together .

Probably just as well , somebody might have shot me for a mutant mole!

The first and only time I ever saw a mole was, as displayed above, in that cute characterization in Caddyshack. I had no idea they were these disgusting little rat-like creatures that DESERVE to die.

But ironically, I find bats CUTE.

I was listening to a radio show this a.m. and someone called in wanting to know how to get rid of moles.

The hosts said:
1. Get rid of the Grub worms that live in your soil. I think "befeficial nematodes" will do this but the other recs on the board are also good.
2. Moles hate noise. Buy a couple (few?) cheap battery operated transistor radios, tune them to a hard rock station, turn em up loud, drop them in the holes.



Sounds easy and worth a try to me!

I'm sure glad someone brought this up.... I have lots of these nasty varmits in my 1/2 acre back yard apparently, but have spent all my time working on the Jewel Box and not trying to chase the critters.

I do probably have the grubs, so will try whatever cheaper method first and had already thought of the windmill idea.

WINDMILL question..... Do you have to put several of them in different areas, to distribute the vibration in the ground? and will something shorter work good?

I will try to get over to HF and my garden store today !

Northern Tool sells something for them that you stick in the ground that emits sound. But simpy scaring them away and not brutally killing them won't satisfy THIS crowd.

And just scaring them off of your property won't make you a very good neighbor, will it?
