The story doesn't make sense to me in this regard.

I think he stepped over the line with the lawn mowing. That's not squaw work. That's a man's job. And, what's he doing letting her pay bills. That puts a checkbook in her hands. He should pay the bills, and give her an allowance, like it says in the Bible.

I'm not condoning her use of a damn good golf club to murder the man, but a stern talking-to by his friends was probably in order. If he had done his manly duty of lawn care, his wife could have adequately done her woman's work of cooking and cleaning a lot better, too, leaving him free to watch more sports instead of trying to "support" his wife's weaknesses.

As I read this, my wife is on the roof removing moss and tree limbs and cleaning out the gutters.
She's making a lot of noise, and it's hard for me to concentrate on these important posts.
