Summer of Love 40th Anniversary

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I was taking to some guys in Minnesota, about my age, and they hardly knew the war was going on.

Our public school had mandatory ROTC with 3 Army sargeants and I learn a lot. 3 years of that. The students who were officers the year before me were coming home dead by the time I was a senior. We all had choices to make. It was nearly impossible to get deferred.
I guess that is why I drank all the beer I could when I was 17 & 18. Seems kinda funny you can get you but shot at but were, at that time, not old enough to vote or buy beer.

I alway wondered why it was the Summer of Love? Kent state students getting shot, Riots in Chicago, and a subculture that despised the Police.

I remember great music, stinky friends (hippy dudes) and some fun gatherings where people acted crazy, if they had drugs or not.

I did sign the Moratorium Petition to stop the war. I forgot all about it till 15 years later I applied for a gov't. job and it was in my rather thin dossier.

I sure had fun running all over the place on my Honda and chasing girl hippies.
