Happy Birthday notes, how much is too much

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I feel obligated to respond, guilty when I don't, plus, it gets kind of old--you know?

...then by all means, please don't feel obligated to resond to any more posts, since apparently, you know when everyones birthday is from checking the info...as opposed to everyone else...I, for one, appreciate the effort that goes into keeping up with the info and posting it here for those of us who don't keep up with everyones Birthday......

If we really wanna cut down on volume, we can quit copying everything everyone says on here and pasting it into our replies. Pictures, verbage, emoticons . . . shouldn't once be enough to view this stuff? Especially when it is in the post just above!!!!

I guess I'm missing something. First off, I didn't know this was a 'build only' forum and secondly, just how long does it take to skim over posted subjects. Although I skim over all subjects, I don't read all. It doesn't bother me that 'Happy Birthday' post are being made, it's no big deal, just talk. The thing that bugs me is some of the dumb questions that are asked. And yes there are dumb questions being asked. Doesn't anyone use thier head anymore besides growing hair. If I'm restricted to just construction type questions and answers. Then I guess this is the wrong forum for me. Damn, I lost the direction I was headed in. Have a good day.

I think the Birthday wishes are nice... I appreciate the effort put into it.

There are times I am busy and don't have time to read them... but as others have said... it is easy enough to skip over them. I don't see the big deal.

birthday wishes

Postby Eunice » Sun Aug 19, 2007 5:15 pm

I have told Miriam that i appreciate her posting birthday wishes since I am bad about keeping track of the calendar.
I think it is nice that someone goes to the trouble. I like the birthday wishes and hope we keep getting them.

I can see both sides: I like Arne, get annoyed when I see 50+ "new topics since last visited" and a bunch of them are Birthday wishes. Recently, I look to see who they for. If I do know them, I send them a PM seems more personal to me. I've kinda given myself a goal not to respond to those threads. Occasionally I see one and say to myself, "Hmm that dude hasn't posted here in ages."

On the other side: It is nice to receive the birthday greetings. People just are unaware of when they come up. Miriam and her sidekick Mary do a great job of keeping up with them. It is a lot of work to keep on top of it. Like everybody else said, it is easy enough to skip them if you are uninterested.

Condensing a week's worth of birthdays into one thread could work but I think it would keep getting bumped back to the top and we'd have several week floating around at the same time. I've just learned to live with it, I think it's one of the steps I'm taking towards becoming a grumpy old man.

Guys I get annoyed by a lot of things but new posts aren't among them. I know a lot of you work and don't have the time to read every thread. Most of us know that and appreciate your efforts to just read and help those that need it.

We are averaging around 180 + posts a day. Thankfully not that many threads. :? For some of you that is going to seem like work. If we ever get more than a few a day I will understandably go to a list. I won't like it but I do understand.

For those of you who are antagonistic about the Birthday posts and have time to post on the "guy" threads. Use a few seconds of that time to skip over the rest of us. ;)

Arne I don't know when your Birthday is but I sure hope it is a happy one.
