Tommy's Burgers

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I have to add one more food place to the LA Icons. There is no contest between them, they are all great and another of the great ones is Philippe's The Original, home of the french dip sandwich.
PHILIPPES
This may be the most unpretentious food stop in LA. Sawdust on the floor, you wait in line for your food and sit where there is a clear spot. When last I checked coffee was still 10c. It is downtown LA right across the street from Olvera St, the Original LA, next door to China town and walking distance to Japan town and the Disney Hall. The sandwiches are great.

Talk about weird combinations, we went to Gray's Papaya in Manhattan. It was quick because it was right around the corner from my cousin's apt. I would have never thought of papaya juice and hotdogs going together.

I always make a point to stop at In-n-Out when we are in Vegas. I think Eddie has them in PHX though. What's funny is that every time I wear my In-N-Out shirt, someone comments on it.

There's a Tommy's in Vegas too - last exit heading south IIRC.

So which shirt do you have? I lucked into an In-n-Out Aloha shirt on eBay - I think they only did one run of them and they're scarce as hen's teeth now.

Well I had my Tommy's burger and wish we had them here in Phoenix, But they would probably have long lines like In-And-Out does.

Oops - sorry. It's in Barstow, not Vegas. All the high speed runs Kate and I have made on the 15 from Henderson (her sister) to Covina (my parents) and back makes eveything in between kinda blur together...

But I just checked their web site - there shoud be one in Henderson soon... :applause:
