Global Warming Huh?...

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby dhazard » Mon Jan 28, 2008 7:25 pm

One news article I read about global warming had a quote from some activist “Global warming is very unpredictable”.

I think that about covers it.

Two weekends ago it was -15 (wind chill) -1F temp and this coming weekend it will be seasonal. I really don't think "anyone" can make an accurate projection of anything.

If they think they can they're fibbing. (notice I didn't say lying)!!

Chaos theory says that the flap of a butterfly's wing two weeks ago half a world away affects today’s weather---sounds like you're getting our butterfly.

That, and PID Control theory states that a set point change results in perturbations until settling out into a new baseline, that is unless the set point results in divergence. Perhaps that what Global Warming is, a set point change. If so, hope to gawd it’s convergent.

Yep... I'd be glad to be in California right now or maybe over in Finland with Heikki... where it's warmer.

Well...
After listening to and watching a couple of programs on the History channel this past weekend... It looks like we'll only be making it to IRG6.0. :(
According to the Myan beliefs, the world will end on December 21st, 2016.
On that day, the Sun is going to be aligned with the center of the galaxy and earth will be completing a wobble on it's axis... One wobble takes 26,000 years.
If that doesn't happen, methane gas is going fill up the atmosphere soon, which will make the earth's temperature spike upward, which melts the ice caps, which raises the ocean levels by 40', so we might be taking a ferry to future IRG events and it will get up to 95 degrees F at the events.
And if we survive all that... An asteroid will ruin IRG16.0 because the heat generated as it enters the atmoshere will vaporise us all.

2012, not 2016---you're 2 IRGs too optimistic.

No kidding, we had Global Warming yesterday too, 65 degrees in Kansas City. Today it's 25 and dropping. Snow by this evening or tomorrow. I'm trying to talk my waife into moving anyplace that's warm. I prefer Arizona or Texas, she wants to stay here with the kids. Oh well, I guess I'll have to send her a card.
