Were you born in the wrong time?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Well... Let's see.
A couple of years ago when Joanie took me to Hawaii, we were befriended by a Hawaiian couple while exploring the petroglyph fields.
I was told that I was once a Hawaiian Warrior, which would mean that at one time, I was actually close to 7 feet tall, without the effects of alcohol.
That would be kinda cool and different. :R

I'd love to back in time for a visit, but not to live. No matter how romantic the past may seem, we are living in the best of times, in a lot of ways. What we do in the best of times makes all the difference.

Now, I'd love to go spend a year in the Desert with Jesus, so I could listen to the man, and not have to depend on the people who created the religion in his name. Somehow, I can't imagine that Emperor Constantine was focused on Jesus' agenda when he ordered the council at Nicea to create our Bible.

I'd also like to hang out with the founding fathers of our nation, and hear from them what they meant when they wrote the constitution. There are plenty of right-wingers around today to tell me what they meant, but I have my skepticism.

I'd like to spend some time in the Renaissance period in Europe, to witness the birth of wide open thinking after a long period of oppression.

I wouldn't mind going back to the 1950's so I could experience the goodness and morality of those days, as I've been told they were. Of course, I'd want to go back as a white male. If the rules said I had to go back as a young black man in Mississippi, I'd have to pass on that.

Bottom line -- there has never been a perfect time to be born, and I doubt there ever will be. My life may not be all I want it to be, but at least I'm not a newborn child in sub-Saharan Africa, where my life expectancy is about five. I wasn't born a Jew in Germany during Hitler's reign. I wasn't born in London during the Black Plague.

At every point in history, there have been winners and losers. A knight in shining armor is just a guy who wasn't born into the wrong family in the wrong country.

I have two words to answer that. Lewis and Clark. OK, so that is three words but I think that they had one of the best adventures of all time. Maybe because of how well it was recorded, but all I can say is what a trip.

Oh, I like it here and now. Like Andrew mentioned, I need anaesthetics, painkillers, antiseptics & soft toilet paper.

Back to a time before fast transportation and long distance communication created the "need" for fast transportation and long distance communication. Likely a more simple and less troubled time.

Bruce , I think the rest of the question should be - If you went back in time , would you know then , what you know now?? It would make a huge difference huh? could you imagine going back & knowing then what you know now. :o :o  :?

Probably wouldn't want to go back to any of the times mentioned as a woman, either. Not that there haven't been strong women in history, but for every woman in a position of power--every queen, every matriarch, every solid and admired 'first woman to (fill in the blank)', there were literally hundreds of thousands of women who had to live under different standards of acceptable behavior, and suffer much more severe consequences for ignoring those standards. I'd probably have been burned at the stake if I'd lived in the wrong time...or at very least shipped to convent school.

I'd probably fare even worse than that, with my attitude toward authority.

If one of us went back, knowing what we know now, we'd either be very rich and powerful, or executed for being a heretic, witch or sorcerer.

I would personally be happy to just go back to my High School graduation and start a do-over from that point -- knowing what I know now. ;)

Now this is the first said about a "do over". That changes everything.

Also there fewer special groups telling you how to live your life. No I was born at the right time just going to die in the wrong time.

Some interesting thoughts presented. This one made me think and wonder. Did our founding fathers leave us with other writings about what they were thinking when they wrote the constitution? I've never taken the time to research this but those right-wingers are always saying that there are letters and other writings we "need" to read. Are there? Maybe someone else here knows. Are there other writings from our founding fathers that we "need" to read?
