Want to really go Green?

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

4-10 work weeks are great. My sister is an RN, and they were on that schedule and she loved it. Then, the hospital was bought by big corporation Tenet, and the 4-10s went away.

We are so indoctrinated to working 50 and 60 hour weeks in America, that we actually look down on Europeans who work better hours, and have more vacation time than we do.

In America, we measure "work ethic" by how hard we work and for how many hours. We don't measure it by what gets done.

And, productivity is officially measured by how much is produced for the dollars spent on payroll. Productivity is going up primarily because the average worker's pay is stagnant. We are producing more for the same pay, not for the same hours worked.

I work with some "kids" in their twenties, and they don't put up with the crap my generation does. They want to earn a living, AND HAVE A LIFE. They are not willing to sign up for a 40-hour-a-week job with a fixed salary, and have the boss expect 50 hours out of them. Some of my peers think they are lazy, but I think they are just smarter than we were.

CD, Employers are pretty flexible in many cases regarding the "modern" work force. Things like the 4-10 work week is one option to be considered. Tele-commuting is (or should be) offered as a option once the employee has aquired the required skills that can be done from a remote location.

My older son works out of his house and covers all of Ill., Wisc., and part of Iowa. He does travel some ( at company expense) but a lot of the work is from the house.

He's doing great under this plan and would have trouble migrating to the "office" full time.

It's kinda' like taking "on-line" classes. I'd never go back to the class room.

It's amazing that no one (except for a few ) are talking about these options. They make perfect sense in today's crazy world.

Let's hope that the options open up in the near future. :worship:

I agree with everything you say but one ... the social part is lost .... I would still be single I met my wife at work. And People should meet at one place at least once a month or more depending on the company to get on the same line.

I Drive a Prius and fill up every half tank so I do not spend so much at one time I fill more often that way but the prices as they went up cost me less tne filling at say 3.85 amd now at 4.01 rather then filling at say 3.85 then 4.17 , and if I need to get out of town I do not have to stop at the pump untill I am a long ways away.
Say Forest Fire or the Nucliar plant letting out a little bit. But if Deoblo blows it will not matter I will just be vaperized. :o
