Scooters

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Joseph » Thu Jun 19, 2008 5:54 am

Once I move to the flatlands of Missouri I plan to get a LOT more use out of my bicycle. However, for around town a 50cc scooter is great and cheap - usually well under $1000! My daughter bought an Eagle to get her back and forth to work and I'm thinking about getting one for Kate.

And where are these available? Doesn't seem to be a dealer around me.

I got mine at Brewer Cycles, Inc. in Henderson NC. Kymco is surprisingly big in the USA. There should be dealer listings available at the Kymco web site.

I picked up my new scooter yesterday. It gets 47 MPG highway.
With the price of gas, 2 tanks in my truck makes the payment.

When I came out of church last Sunday this bike was parked alongside my car. I found pics of it on the web later. I started looking at bikes after that! And now you post this pic of the XL1200C -- I'm going to have to speak nicely to my wife!

Where did you find the pics? I would love to see more....and show them to my honeyman. He's a huge Beatles fan!

I sold my 86 Honda Helix 250 Scooter just a couple of weeks ago, and bought a 2008 Honda 750 Shadow Spirit
Image
With the scooter I got 68mpg and it could run just under 70mph, with the Shadow I get 59mpg and it will run ???mph. So now I have to refigure all of my weights to design a tear around the Shadow.[/img]
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

Saw the gas thing coming when it went beyond $1.50 and got mad and bought my 1200 goldwing. Going from 12 to 15 MPG to 47 I was estatic. Last december a buddy was selling his 2000 Suzuki Esteem so I bought it for bad weather days as I drive 35 miles a day each way to and from work. My little 1400 cc suzuki 5 speed get 46.7 MPG.

(I swear to God and that is a 4 tank average !)

Single tank I have gotten as high as 51 mpg.
Almost makes the bike a mute point but I love to ride and it is my main transportation 7-8 months out of the year.

I bought an "antique" scooter -- I was in college when it was new :( -- mostly to restore and play with, but it is great for a quick run to the store for a couple items.

Scooters are the way to go! I have a 2007 Genuine Buddy125. Had it for about 15 months and love every bit of it. 80+ MPG, dirt cheap insurance, park it anywhere. Only downfall is the 3-4 months in winter when its not really rideable.
Actually the last major design idea I am toying with for my project is whether to build a trailer with a place on the tounge for my scoot or not. It sure would be a blast to have around camp sites.

I'm trying to work out a carrier for my scooter to go on my TD. They are nice to take to explore the big parks.
