It was apparently snuck out of the factory in pieces. The remaining Olds f88 was recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $3.24 million dollars.

This car used to be at the Black Hawk Collection for sale at $50,000. When I saw it; it had been there for a couple of years. Then it goes to auction and sells for 3.24 million. I wanted it a 50,000 but couldn't afford it. lol
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.

Definitely the '42 Buick Wagon. That's a bad boy. Especially with a big ol gas guzzling, teardrop snagging engine.......

Well, since I was actually at the Concours, I have to go with "none of the above."

My personal favorite was this 1904 De Dion...

I also liked this 1937 Rolls-Royce, which won Best in Class for Class H (Prewar Rolls Royce) and the Lucius Beebe Trophy sponsored by Rolls Royce MotorCars. The bright-work is copper.

This 1948 Delahaye was sweet, too. I didn't get a good shot of it -- too many people around it.

As a side note...the local paper today had an article that mentioned that "40 Lamborghini's were stopped on HWY 50 for speeding" Maybe a caravan of them making the trip to Pebble Beach. Only 3 got ticketed for going 90 and crossing into the oncoming traffic in the undivided portion. Some of the locals called the law on them. The stopping officers mentioned that "they were all very polite" the bulk got off with a verbal warning. Seems like an unlikely number, but that's what the paper said. I only saw a couple on the way home. Doug

The locals didn't mention an orange 1970 Porsche chasing after a Ferrari 308 on the PCH Sunday Night, I hope. That would have been us. :D

If you get "Wood Magazine" this month's issue has a cover story on a 200+ MPH super car being built by a North Carolina grad student and it is mainly made out of wood. Has a 700 HP mid mounted Cadillac engine.

What the Mosquito did for airplanes the Splinter will do for cars.

Just think of the teardrop that could be built with his techniques.

Enjoy

The 1938 Alfa Romeo was not the winner of the People's Choice, it won Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
I can't find anywhere who won people's choice.
