Things that don't fit anywhere else...

A long time ago one of my Drill Instructors told us of a small easy thing to do WHILE being a couch potato. When ever a commercial comes on, just roll off the couch and do 5, 10, ? push-ups. In one two hour movie, doing 5 push-ups each commercial, you can wind up doing alot of push-ups. And just doing acouple at a time you shouldn't start sweating.

I am a firm believer in chunking a task down. Since the commercials are getting longer they are a good time for a stretch or bend or jumping jack or run in place- Great idea!

I never liked having a coffee table in the living room. I liked having the floor space, so I could sit on the floor and stretch while watching TV. When Honeyman and I moved in together, his (ugly) coffee table came with him.

I'm still hoping to get my hands on that thing and change it into something less hideous.

I think ladder climbing is considered as part of the maintaining balance group. ;)

I try to walk ~6miles everyday - I said I try.

Since I started this program on August 31, 2006 I've covered 4,017 miles or 5.53 miles per day.

The obstacle that I must overcome is how to keep this up while on the road traveling. Last year I didn't keep it up and over the three months that I was on the road my blood pressure went up 10 points. This year I'm going to do better, I'm not quite sure how yet - but I'm going to do better.

Get a Wii It works beleive it or not.And its fun too. I was sore for two weeks after I got it. Those of you that have it know what I'm talking about but its like everything else. You have to do it for it to work. I use an elliptical machine at home and it works. They take some serious getting used to though. This thing nearly killed me the first 2 weeks I used it. I still have about 30 lbs I want to get rid of but it all takes time. Seems to take 10 times as long to loose it as it does to put it on.

Amen to Wii!! I love mine and for the first 2 weeks I probably played 2 hours a night! I was in pain! So, I had to make myself play for just an hour or less at night. The boxing is the biggest workout and I was exhausted after 3 rounds. It is a wonderful game machine. Tennis, bowling, boxing, golf...all fun and makes you sweat.

Ok, I am getting up right now and going on my treadmill. I have a TV in that room so I watch a good program, put my water bottle in the holder, put the fan on and just walk. I only go about 2.8 to 3 miles an hour but that's ok...I'm working my way up and I don't want to burn out. One thing is I love to dance...just not in front of people...so I put my music on when I'm at home alone and dance while I do housework. I also do water aerobics in my pool. I put some music on and just start moving. Nothing is scheduled, I just do whatever comes to my head that day. Like QuietOutdoorsMan said, you don't want to burn out. I have a bike but it's been too hot to ride but I am going to start doing it later in the evenings now. Just mix it up so you won't get burnt out.

Ok....I'm off. I'll be back at 8:00 huffin' and puffin' to post.

I hate exercise. I sometimes get an extreme workout just working. But, I have lost 21 pounds in about 7 weeks. I've been on the South Beach Diet. It's has been pretty easy to stay to it. Only another 208 pounds to go and I'll be gone.

I do too but I found if I walk the tread about 15-20 min. early in the a.m. I feel a lot better at work. You didn't need to lose weight but good for you! South Beach meals are actually tasty. I like their Chicken Ceasar wraps. BTW, I like your new avatar.

Ok, I did my 'improvements' from 7:45 to 8:30. Started off rough but I feel good.

Rode my bike around the neighborhood and chain came off half way through. Learned how to put a chain back on. Rode fast for 22 min. I hate my bike.

Came home and got on the tread for exactly 11 minutes at incline at 3.0. Doesn't sound like much but I don't want to burn out and hate the thing. The time in between was trying to fix the friggin chain. I feel good though.

Shower time.

In the new So Beach book there are interval exercises, where you walk a regular pace, then walk at a fast pace for 30 seconds, regular pace 2 minutes, etc....As you get conditioned, the times change to match your endurance. It works.

I am a fairly regular exerciser. As has been said, it is important to do something you like. I think variety is good also. It helps keep it interesting, and it gives you a more balanced fitness. I run, walk and bike. [road and mountain] In the winter [I live with snow] I cross country ski and snowshoe.. and when the trails are frozen also mountain bike then also. I do also have indoor equipment. I have an eliptical, a waterrower, a couple of indoor bikes.. an upright and a recumbent. I also have a weight machine and free weights.

I also stretch and do yoga. I also work seperately on balance. just try standing on one leg for a couple of minutes :D A few months ago I bought an Indo balance board.. it is fun ...good for balance.. as well as the muscles of balance. It is a great, fun workout.

I try to do a little something first thing in the morning.. and then a larger workout later in the day.

I would like to easily add swimming to my list..another great workout....but not sure how..

The only exercise I'm getting right now is working on the "little campie" since it has to be ready for the first gathering in 3 weeks. :hammer: I hope with the three day weekend to make a lot of headway!!

But, after it's done, I promise to work-out at least one hour a day due to everyone's great inspirations!!
