Steve got it right. I have those things all over my shop in George West and have seen a couple close to a foot long.
Not to hijack, but if you want to see a bunch of deer up close, drive to Sunrise Beach on Lake LBJ. There are literally hundreds of deer roaming that subdivision area. I'll bet no one even attempts a garden or flower bed. We drove thru there last weekend and were amazed. The population needs to be thinned out as lots of deer on the fringe looked in bad shape. But these deer are so tame and used to the traffic, we could stop the car 10 feet from the deer and they would ignore us. Saw two 10 points, racks still covered in velvet. It got to be a joke with us, "Look--do you see the deer?"
