Heikki you have some interesting friends!

That's fabulous. Great materials and supurb workmanship have really restored a grand old lady.

You keep life interesting for us. 8)

I wish some of you could come and visit us here. I have some real interesting places to show or take you to.

Our neighbor who built this boat is really interesting and gifted in this type of work. Ive watched him how he uses his knives for carving as well.

For another hobby he goes to a woodworkers class where he builds gift boxes, plates and all kinds of nice pieces. Just for somthing to do since here where we live we dont have garages or such to be able to work in.

Classic Finn ;)

Also an intersting place to visit inf you go to Stockholm Sweden is the Vasa Museum. Where the original ol time ship Vasa rests. It was lifted from the bottom of Stockholms harbor. Where it sank was it 1600,s

Its interesting but also an eerie feeling when inside.

Oh oh, does this mean that the next Doug Hodder creation will have a pointed bow up front and a mahogony barrel-back stern? I hope it is on the drawing board and can't wait to see the highly varnished sloping teak deck on top. Ah yes, another one-of-a-kind coming up!

We'll start buying lottery tickets. If we win the lottery we can pay for a few others, too! Like my son and family to start. And then.... how popular could I become if I offered about 8 tickets and loaner trailers for Finland... After we had toured Finland you could sell the trailers. Then we would go to Sweden and finally Norway. I'd buy a real Bunad made in the right region and all the silver parts (think they are $5000+, the silver i mean)

And Narvik, have to go there. My favorite possession is a low wooden bowl that has the watercolor-like painting of a Sammi in a sled with a reindeer as the tow vehicle. On the back it says "Hilsh fra Narvik' Don't know if Grandma Aaen's family (Satrum,) brought that or if it was another grandparent. It's beautiful. Narvik was a popular tourist spot. Or so my defective memory tells me.

Yeah that's the ticket. :) ROADTRIP!

He did a very nice job on the restoration. I really enjoy seeing the results of this kind of project.

He should transport that thing to Lake Coeur d'Alene; the boat would fit right in. Here are some pictures I took a couple of weeks ago: http://teardrop.blogicalthoughts.com/td ... _2008.html

My favorite is slide 97. The engine was manufactured in 1916. It's one of those engines that fires one stroke and runs 5 or 10 seconds, then fires again. None of that 2-stroke/4-stroke stuff. 8-)

Mike thank you for the wonderful boat photos. Those are so awesome. Wish I could go to Coeur D'Alene. When we were kids I always wanted to go to the big hydroplane races. Miss Bardol (don't know how to spell) Miss Budweiser and the rest.

Beautiful boats.

Do you folks remember our friend as well as neighbor, the gentleman who built this nice boat? Well we were wondering as to what happened to him since he wasnt around for a week or so.. He has helped in building our tear off and on also.

Well he is home now thank god. However he had a pacemaker installed. Heart troubles with him all of a sudden, he,s retired but was in excellent shape till he started having real bad dizzy spells. Got rushed to the hospital just in time to have the doctors get him on the operating table immediately. He stated that he was revived said the doctors. And if he would of come in a few minutes later his heart would have stopped for good.
Ohh boy what luck. Im sure glad he is till around. He,s ok now however the pacemaker kicks in once in the while and he has to take it a bit easier now.
This year has not been good, filled with close calls. thank the good lord it wasnt time for him yet either. :worship:

Going to help him this weekend to get his boat onto dry dock for the season.

Just thought Id pass this on to you since it was heart problems here with me too and just now to hear of his situation. Double wammy it be.

His Birthday was yesterday as well so mighty close birthdays just one day apart. Guess we have a lot in common after all  :)

All with happy endings at least for now.
