It is a problem. First, sometimes I have to wait for glue to dry on one part, so I try to keep moving on another, so it looks like I'm jumping around, but not really.. just trying to keep the project moving.

Also, in my haste to get things done, I often skip some little thing that bites me in the ass down the road, when my life would have been easier if I had taken the proper time to do it...

In no. 2, it was sealing the bottom of the walls before in installed them.. I had to mask them off the paint almost upside down to get it down, whereas, if I had done it at the 'proper time', it would have been easy to roll it on while it was uninstalled and lying down on the saw horses.

So, it was more difficult, but not impossible.. so I guess the 'keep it going' mentality didn't hurt the final product too much.

Well, I'm glad there are some other peeps with short attention spans like me!!!

I'm trying to get myself to concentrate on one thing at a time but doesn't always work. Like Hodder says, "Gotta stay the course......".

Hodder had some great points.... but, no way to overcome the A.D.D. that drives you to use it in campable condition. Now hear ye... my a.d.d. kicked in just thinking about it how I was going to build. I have a very very bad habit of using before finished. So. I bought one to use until I get around to building... I'll know what I want and be able to finish it before using cause I already have one to use in the mean time. :)

Went through all that previously with boat building. (still trying to get most recent boat finished before I can pull my trailer frame in to get started.)

Ah ha!! Would this camper you bought be a "pacifier" or an "enabler"?

I'm not being judgemental on you or anybody but wonder if there are personallities that are drawn to things like this.... It'd be interesting to have a psycologist chime in on this thread....

I may or may not be a step worse about this. I can go from discovery of a thing like boat building or camper building through all the idealistic thought processes, through the engineering thought processes, and never actually get through the build before I'm already bored and looking at the next cool idea. Dreaming, building, inventing, and creating crude prototypes are my strong points.

Finishing and actually using as intended are my weak points.

Wimperdink...a quick way to make sure you get the boat done....go ahead and invest in new engine right up front. The more time you spend walking around it, banging your shins on it, knowing it's cash out of the checking account and you're not using it, only encourages you to get it done. did that on 2 boats! got'em both done.

For me, money sunk into a project that isn't on track, kicks my butt into gear. Chances are, you won't get the money out of it, if that's your choice, till it's done. It's a tough dilemma to slug through however, kinda like removing a band aid at times. Just do it, get over the pain! Doug

LoL yep Doug you make a good point. I already have the engine, trailer, and everything else. The boat is ready to roll, just needs the finishing details to be complete. This is always the point where I just wanna let a project go and start something new. I think more often its more about the project than the end result.

Here's another lil thing.... Maybe its a trailer fetish. I've got 9 diff trailers around the yard. 4 have boats on them, 3 have campers on them 1 is my tear trailer ready to be built on, but currently hauls my home made canoes on, and 1 utility trailer.
Off to the polls to see if thats part of the personality of folks that want to build tears. :D

That's a classic Pioneering personality. Pioneers are described as not afraid to be different, do new things, start projects, are extremely creative, tend to be perfectionist, but get bored with repeat tasks or mundane work. Many pioneers abandon a project exactly at that point when it becomes do-able -- when the challenge or creative, ingenuity-driven work is gone and the rest is just finishing-up.

I share your pain ... plus I'm a procrastinator. We have owned our home for ten years, yet still have not put up the door moldings on the inside; have not finished the front porch despite three summers of building; never built the intended shelves in the eight-year-old shed ... everything is functional, but not finished unless my better half does it.

I guess that makes me a pioneer too! :o I get bored with repetitive tasks, and I gave up on finishing the upstairs of my house,
