Made In China Loved in America

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Thanks for the wonderful comment. We are very excited. She is getting a physical and shots before their return.

I had to laugh at the Chinese Import comment. My daughter was looking for gifts to take to her foster family and had a terrible time finding something not made in China. We sent Native American gifts from North Dakota to her.

It is a shame about the little girls in China. This child was abandoned, umbilical cord still attached. The Police are afraid to turn in abandoned children because the females in their families will be checked by the government to see if any had a child not reported to the health system

Mandy said the orphanage was filled with girls and some boys that had visible birthmarks or any problems. They are considered "defective children."

Another photo on Xia at her 2nd birthday a few weeks ago. Note the Pig on the cake. I think it must be the year of the Pig.

2007 (her birth year) was year of the pig. People born in the Year of the Pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. For Boar Year people, there is no left or right and there is no retreat. They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They don't make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. They don't talk much but have a great thirst for knowledge. They study a great deal and are generally well informed. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. No matter how bad problems seem to be, Boar people try to work them out, honestly if sometimes impulsively. They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.

My son was born 3 months early and spent his first month in the NICU next to twin chinese girls. They were born year of the dragon so many of us placed stuffed dragons in the basinettes for luck.

congrats bigwoods! This is good news!
I pray that it goes better than my cousin from the cities. a year and a half ago they adopted a beautiful little girl from the guandong providence. The adoption agency didnt have all the paperwork straightened out and my cousin ended up staying in china for almost 3 months (I cant reemember but it was a LONG time) It took senators and the governor of minnesota to straighten that mess out. I hope it all goes smoothly. congrats again!!! Paul

They made it home and I would like to introduce one of the newest American Citizens. This is Emma-Kate. She is still trying to figure out how to eat a sandwich, but already salutes the American Flag. I think her new brother taught her that or maybe her Dad who is a Major in the USAF.

Welcome to America and our family Emma-Kate.

Glad to hear all went smoothly.

She's going to be having lots of new experiences and fortunately little ones learn new languages quickly too.

Emma-Kate is a very beautiful little girl and looks like she is already doing very well for such a major change but very fortunate in her life.
Martha ;)

Just out of curiosity. You said newest American citizen. So, is she a full fledged citizen? because she was adopted by citizens?

My understanding is that my daughter had all the immigration papers in order and since she was adopted by an American family, she was a citizen as soon as the passport was issued and stamped.

Maybe someone else knows more about that law.

Cajun Lady,

Thanks for remembering. I would have been better about posting pictures, but my wife Linda had a stroke just over a year ago and I have been preoccupied as a caregiver. We have been out in the tear a few times and Linda is doing well.

Emma Kate is 3 1/2. Her weight is 22#. They are having trouble getting weight on her. She has had her trachea repaired and will have a heart surgery in the future. The problem is since she never had solid food as a toddler everything feel terrible in her mouth. They have therapist helping with that.

We saw her at Thanksgiving and she is just precious, as are all her siblings. She absolutley will melt any heart. She calls me Gong Gong and Linda is PoPo. Chinese for Grandpa and Grandma. I fact her 2 brothers and 1 sister also call us by Chinese names. They all sing Chinese song Emma Kate taught them. BTW my daughter has another on the way and they just bought a 12 passenger van.

They will be stationed in Las Vegas in the near in the near future.

I'll post more photos soon .

Did her poor nutrition have any effect on her teeth? They look good in the picture.

Greg, your 'new' granddaughter is absolutely precious looking. I hope she continues to improve and that her heart surgery goes well. Sorry to hear about your wife's stroke but glad to hear she is better. Thank you for sharing the photo and update as I, too, have been waiting to hear news from you.

What a precious little girl! Thanks for the update and picture. Sorry to hear y'all are still having problems with her eating. Hopefully she will outgrow that and start cleaning out the pantry.

And I had forgotten about Linda having a stroke. I am glad to hear she is doing better. I can't even imagine what this past year has been like for y'all.

Before I forget, congratulations on another grand baby on the way! That is wonderful news!! :applause: And please don't forget to share pictures when the next one arrives.

Thanks everyone. Linda is doing well. Last Wed. she had a surgery to open up the good carotid artery and had a bad reaction to the anesthetic, but is doing well now.

And Judy ask about her teeth. As far as I know they are fine, but she has behavior issues. She does some very "different" things and is in therapy for that as recommended by the military Drs.

I know she will walk away from her mother and gravitate to the person she thinks is in charge or of importance. In her mind, they control the food. She thinks the Pastor of the church is all powerful because everyone listens to him, so in her mind he is the boss and control the food, water and even lights.

Although she does nor eat very well, food is still her top priority. She has to have a stash or access all the time. She does crave avacados and asparagus.

I would probably handle her different than her mother, but it's none of my business. They are getting help from the USAF Dr. and the local pediatric Drs. Brothers & Sister & Emma-Kate

I just pray she can be "normal."
