Making some money on the side...

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

This may sound ridiculous, but I found that if you go into the local salvation army and goodwill you can pick up some fairly new items that sell on ebay.
Exercise equipment seems to great but hard to ship, kids clothing goes great.

A friend cleans the data on direct marketing lists. She's hiring me for a few hours in the evening to do that. It's mind-numbing, but you can do it while watching Top Gear or something on TV.

The landscape is littered with teardrop builders dreams...

Mike...

Well stated.

A scant few make a living at it, but for the rest of us, being able to create and enjoy is the only reward we can realistically expect.

I do the best work I can for the least money I can as the main goal of my little "business" is to help my wife pay the bills and help the old folks out with the everyday chores. Changing water filters, replacing weather stripping, that kind of thing. I did install a new microwave/range hood for a lady a couple of days ago because she wanted a microwave with a trun table, she insisted that I haul off the old one which was working fine so with that and the flat rate I charged for the install I came out of that one well paid. I once replaced an attic ladder (stair), that is one job I will never again do alone, I got it done but it is a killer for one person, even with a scafold and a block and tackle, didn't charge near enough for that one.

Yeah, attic ladders are a b--ch.

What kind of prices do you charge, if you don't mind me asking? You can PM if you don't want to put it on the thread.

There are a lot of handymen around here -- I get their flyers on my door. So, it may be worthwhile, but may be too much competition.

I am looking at doing an "errand service" that I could market in the rich part of my county, where the multi-million dollar homes are -- and there are lots of them. I live in one of the richest counties in Texas (on the wrong side of the tracks, though).

Anyone done an errand service?

I've been thinking of getting into the bank robbery business on the side. Low start up cost and it seems to pay pretty well?

Bank and armored car robbery is a Federal offense. So move that retirement up a notch.

There are all kinds of opportunities on Craigslist for attractive females, 18-25, who don't mind working without clothes.

That does me no good, though.

I do BBQ on the side. Mostly spit roasted pigs, and I do pretty good.

So, has anyone here actually had any good fortune with any "money on the side" programs?

Oh, I wouldn't say 90%..........probably closer to 95-98% if you had time to check them all. Now if you could get someone to pay ya to do that you'd be into some serious coinage!!! 8)

Doug, I didn't lose control over the boyfriend. I just never had it to begin with! I only have control over my own stuff.

We are the exact opposite when it comes to "stuff". The "Hendricks" like to collect stuff. The "Heinrichs" are more minimalistic.

Thus, I think "someone" is sneaking cast iron E-Bay purchases into the house. Where the heck did all of these mailing boxes come from????
