To the MAC (based in BSD Unix) mockers, there are good reasons the UNIX operating system and it's derivatives have survived some 40 years. Just because Windows is on most PCs does not make it better... when was the last time a MAC or Linux user posted a help request on here?

Micro, Legojenn seems to have the right idea.

Sounds like a poll to me, PC to MAC users on the forum.

I used to use a Mac until I woke up and realized that the REST of the WORLD used IBM (back in the day) and LINUX based hierarchy. The question was asked on how to deal with a windows issue. Inevitably a person stops by and make the proverbial MAC comment like it's the cure all - Well MACs are crap too! Had plenty of little bombs go off on my MAC too. if I were an employer and heard the above remark - I would think about finding someone else. following these real these situations.

Example 1: i was a plant supervisor in a water treatment plant for the public consumption. if I arrived at a customers home and didn't drink the water that I had a hand in making - I would be a hypocrite

Example 1:
I'm A mainline protestant preacher and I do that for a living , however i don't profess another religion when I'm away from the church.- I would be a hypocrite

Example 2:
If I were trying to sell a person a bunch of pens and write up the order up with a pencil - - I would be a hypocrite

Now use what you know to help out instead of offering a $2500.00 solution to a mouse click problem

Took Legojenn's advice... checked both areas for language settings. Both are set to English-US.
Then I went int properties of IE, changed the homepage to HTTP//www.msn.com?st=1. Closed IE, and then restarted it. It took me back to MSN-uk...................................Typed MSN.com?st=1 into the bar on top, clicked go....and it took me to the US page. Got a popup asking if I wanted this to be my homepage, and I said yes. Clicked a few more websites, closed IE and then Reopened it....................BACK TO MSN_UK!!!!!!!!!

AAAARRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

So close. I'm wondering if MSN saves something on their site about your preference. Do you log into MSN or Hotmail?

If you have anit-virus software, try turning it off and see what happens.

Also, since this is a new build and you are in Canada, are you using a US or UK layout for your keyboard?

Check your language settings for Microsoft Office (if you have it) and see what it is set to.

Or try this:

On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Languages, and then click Add.
Select a language to add, and then click OK.
Select the language that you added, and then click Move Up until the language is at the top of the list.
Click OK, and then click OK again.
Close any Internet Explorer browser windows that you have open, and then re-open MSN.com

Delete any IE cookies for msn.com http://www.aboutcookies.org/Default.aspx?page=2 The site is setting a cookie for sure.

I don't use IE or even have access to it (Linux) however you _should_ be able to delete just msn.com cookies, however it may only offer an option to delete all cookies.

Perhaps a windows user can pinpoint the steps to delete just the msn.com cookies.

You really should free yourself from IE and it's problems it is the worst browser available. It consistently fails to meet W3C standards and using it only perpetuates the problem, please switch to Chrome, Opera or Firefox.

When deleteing cookies, etc in IE8, you may need to uncheck the top item 'Preserve Favorites Website Data' to get all of your cookies to clear. With that item checked, if you have a site in your 'Favorites' then IE will NOT clear any cookies associated with it.

Do you watch Saturday night live? Have you seen the skit "Really with Seth and Amy" http://www.hulu.com/watch/13828/saturday-night-live-really-with-seth-and-amy

Hypocrite Really! Fire all Chevy Car salesmen that drive BMW's Really! They are your top sales people but don't drive what they sell fire them all. Really!

BTW A computer is a tool not a Religion. Really!

Really using a pencil and get fired Really! Maybe the scanner requires a pencil. Really!

Really $2500 is the cheapest you can get a Mac for? Really! I glad you always by top of the line. Really!

Really Did you notice who the first person to offer a solution was? Really!

Really! Now here are some more suggestions. Download Firefox or Safari both free. Now if the issue goes away the issue is with explorer. If the issue continues than the problem is with the OS. It will a least get you going in the right direction by narrowing the problem down. Really!

Let's not get off track here, we know the issue is an IE issue since it doesn't occur with FF.

ssrjim - I can understand you supporting Windows and using a MAC, there is a much greater need to support Windows than MAC. It sounds like starleen hasn't used a MAC for several years.

Ever hear the saying "pot calling the kettle black"?

I think toypusher may be onto something with his information about 'Preserve Favorites Website Data'.
